Baby's Heartbeat has slowed down.

Im writing about my mother-in-law. She is due March 8th, but when she went to the doctor today they told her that they were a little concerned because the bbaby's heart rate had slowed down. They gave her a paper to use to keep track of the babys movement. Is this something normal. I am on my 4th pregnancy and I've never had it happen. My mother in law is over 40- would this have anything to do with it?

I don't know how much it's slowed since you don't see but slowing down some near the end isn't unusual.
