I have an Amy Butler "Barcelon Skirt" halfway done downstairs on my kitchen table. It will have to be moved before we can EAT!

I am sewing this dress:

I am hoping it turns out because it is cute and the material was expensive!! I am making it with black material with little cherries. I am so excited! So far I have the pieces cut and I started putting in the darts last night. I am hoping to finish putting it together today and then will hem it tomorrow. We will see though

hotwings640, my sister made that same dress once! She used pale green retro fabric. It looked great on her, and I always loved the dress, but it didn't fit me right; my figure isn't 'retro' enough. Sounds like it'll be cute with cherry fabric!

I'll join! I'm a total newbie to sewing w/a machine. I made a skirt for dd last year (that came out badly) and some pillows (that I could handle!)

Thing is, I can sew almost anything by hand without a pattern, but when it comes to using a pattern I sort of freeze.

I was so happy to find this! (Sorry, can't remember who posted that here.) THAT I can handle, but I'd really like to be able to use cool patterns and make things w/my machine!

On my to-do list are dresses for dds. I bought the material that has the stretchy part on top and the skirt part attached. (My sewing lingo is lacking as well ) so all I'll really have to do is stitch up the sides and hem them.
