Genevieve? What do you think? I saw a show on the home network channel the other day and that was the name of the host on the show. I love it! DH, on the other hand, does not (yet).

Genivieve is cute - it was my great grandmother's name....would you call her something for short? (I'm big on 'for short' )

We're into Charlotte for a girl right now. We already have a Madeline and a Grace.

We're totally lost on a boy name. Maybe Robert?(after my grandfather who passed away), or Jack, something classic - we like classic.

I like it. I take care of an 18 month old girl each day named Genevieve. Her mom intended on calling her "Eve" for short, however it never stuck. She is now mostly called "Gigi" or "Gigu" - it just suits her personality more.

I especially like how it sounds in french! So pretty.

Julia - I love charlotte! It goes with your other girls' names very well.

I love the name! It doesn't really fit with our other kids names, so we likely won't use it, but I just love it! So many nickname options if you want one- Gena, Vivi, Gen... And a beautiful name in full as well!

I like it, but I have to tell you that my husband would never approve of it (for us) because he would say it's a "stripper name" But then again, a lot of girl names give him that impression

I like the nick name Eve of Evie, but I also like Gena. I don't like Gigi, but it might be a regional thing, it wouldn't work here in the mid-west but might work in other areas.

I know of a few Genevas, one adult who goes by the full name Geneva, one toddler who goes by Genny. Geneva and Genevieve are similar.

How does the name flow with your other children's names?

We agreed on our names, and already told Ian (our oldest son). But we're keeping them quiet from family, so we had to tell him to tell everyone that the baby's name is Fred So now he says to anyone who asks: "the baby's name is a secret, but the funny name is Fred!" It's so cute!

hmmm.... now that I think of it, the name doesn't really flow nicely with the other kids names. Isn't that a shame! My kids are all 7 years apart in age though and I hadn't really thought about them flowing nicely until just now since I rarely will probably have all 3 kids with me at any given time. My oldest will be in high school in another year and the other one is in elementary already. I guess what I mean is my children aren't all within a few years of being born around each other or close in age, so maybe that makes more of a difference if they aren't all together all the time when we go places and I announce their names? But I don't know. I'm rambling at this point.

I like the name but hadn't realized until recently (another baby name thread here) that there are multiple pronounciations for Genevieve.

Would you believe I hadn't even remembered, really, we'll have to name this child? If it's a girl we're set. If it's a boy we may go a year without a name. I'm boy-named-out. The last child was 9.5 days after birth before he had one.

I like it. The only woman that I know with this name is from Montreal so it pronounced the French way which I also like. She goes by Gen for short.

Genevieve is my SIL's name. I think it's pretty, but I know she's always been frustrated with common mispronunciation of her name. She chose to name her daughter a very common name for this reason.

I think it's a very pretty and classic name, although I do prefer the French pronunciation over the English/American one. Of course that's not really practical here, but it's just my preference.

I :heart both pronunciations - and I totally :heart Gigi for short!!! We live in the midwest too and I think it would be sweet and unique, yk?
