I saw a newly circ'ed penis today...ughh

An acquaintence of mine wanted my opinion on her 2-week old son's diaper rash, and so obviously I saw his penis...

It was purple and swollen, and really just looked mangled, like there were bits of skin where they weren't supposed to be...is that normal? She didn't say anything about a botched circ. It looked awful. Should it still be all swollen at 2 weeks? Or is he just extremely well endowed? It was like 2x the size of my 7 month old's penis.

I felt so bad for that poor baby boy

She said she felt bad about circing him, but didn't want him to be different from his brother, and that they gave him a shot in his testicle to numb the area.

I've not seen a newly circ'd penis before so I cannot comment on this aspect. I do want to remind you that both boys and girls generally have puffy genitals at birth and for some time afterwards as they are influenced by mom's hormones. As they process out those hormones, they reduce in size and the general sense of puffiness goes away.

wow. i saw my nephew the day of and he did not look like that. he looked bloody and mutilated but not swollen like you describe.
poor baby boy. sending him positive thoughts.

some swelling might be normal but I don't think it should still be swollen after a couple weeks. I've only seen a couple and none have looked swollen like you are describing. Could he have an infection to the wound?

I have never seen one to be honest, but from what I have heard most are fully healed by 2 weeks so it sounds to me like something is wrong and she should seek medical help. Poor baby.

A "shot in the testicle" would be malpractice. Generally either a dorsal penile nerve block at the base of the penis at 2 and 10 o'clock or a ring block at various points around the base of the penis is done. If the testicle was hit then I am quite certain it would not only be malpractice but would also be damaging.
