I called a couple midwives this morning in my area. My first choice was a CNM who has back up Dr's. and would take my insurance. But after she found out I have had a previous c-section, even though I've already had a successful homebirth, she automatically could not take me. Because the Dr.'s who are her back up won't let her. I don't get that. I've already had a successful HBAC. What's the problem?
I went with two direct entry midwives with my HBAC, but we're in a bit of a tighter financial bind than I was then. I'm worried about affording a homebirth out of pocket. And, this is my DB's first child. Having a homebirth is out of his comfort realm to begin with. (I actually wanted to UC this time...) Using a CPM might be even further out of his comfort realm. Hmph.
I do have an appt. with the CPM on Wednesday. So hopefully I'm worrying for nothing and all will be well.
