Love Twilight the movie

So I just went to see Twilight the movie with a friend of mine who is obsessed, and I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it when I was not expecting to. I guess that I'm at a time in my life when I am compelled by a love which is incredibly physically driven and at the same time must rise above that. It seems that most love stories are all physical or so intellectual/spiritual as to be above raw need. A few of the camera spins were ridiculous but in general, I just loved to look at the whole thing. Silly but true.
What did others think?

Have you read the Book? I'm just guessing that you have not, because most people who have thought the movie was not very good. I thought that standing by it's self the movie was very enjoyable. Bella bugged me, I thought she was very twitchy, but over an ok movie for the budget and time they had to work with.

However if you try and watch it expecting the same experience as reading the book it's way off. I think that some of the most important parts of the book were take out or changed and they added things to the movie that I felt change the characters. One example it that they kept having Bella and her dad eating at the diner. In the book Bella did all the cooking and cleaning. This was a big part of who Bella was. She was always taking care of her parents and by not showing that they changed who Bella was.

I have read the book, and I liked the movie so much more than I thought I would. (I have been extremely disappointed with some book-to-movie adaptations lately, including Eragon and Inkheart.) There were some changes from the book that I found a bit puzzling, and not having Bella doing the cooking for herself and her dad was one of them.

I thought the movie was visually stunning. It reminded me a bit of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, my favorite of that series so far. I thought the casting was excellent, for the most part. I loved Kristen Stewart as Bella, and I thought there was good chemistry between her and Robert Pattinson. Watching their scenes definitely brought back the almost-forgotten feeling of being almost uncontrollably drawn to another person.

My biggest disppointment was that they did not include the scene in which Bella gets away from Alice and Jasper to get to her meeting with James. I think that would have made great cinema, so I'm stunned that the movie simply skipped from the hotel to the ballet studio.

Overall, though, I really liked it. I preordered the DVD.

I loved the movie, and I had grown to love the books despite the bad writing. The movie wasn't film of the year or anything, but I thought it was enjoyable, and I loved watching the relationship between Bella & Edward evolve. I really hope they continue with the movies and make all four of them.

Verity, I agree with you about the hotel-to-ballet-studio stuff. She just calmly walked out of the hotel while Jasper & Alice weren't even paying attention. Which makes no sense, because wouldn't Alice have seen that she was going to do that?

Yeah, I just saw the movie last night after reading the books. I love the books! I laughed through the movie. Many of the visual effects were just laughable to me, and not at all what I had envisioned. It seemed like such a low-budget affair for an extremely popular series. I hope the next movies are better.

I did enjoy seeing the school, though. I sometimes work at the school where the bio lab, hallway and cafeteria scenes were filmed, and it was fun seeing my "turf" on screen.

I've read the 4 books twice. I love them.
I've seen the movie a few times and love it, too.
I'd like to kick my 15 year old daughter in the butt for turning me on to this whole thing
just kidding.
Twilight is fun stuff.

My good friend who took me to see the movie, is obsessed, she's seen it 16 times. We've decided that to those addicted it's a dopamine rush. (I'm trying to arrange how I can see it again.) I'll try the books, but I hear that they're not written very well, not that I'm looking for Shakespeare. When reading I need good word choices, when I see a movie I need good visuals or apparently a lot of long stares!

I saw the movie before and after I read the book. I still loved it. I can't wait for the next one to come out.

I'm a Twilight junkie. I seem to be incapable of disliking anything associated with Twilight.

I have not seen the movie. I'm on the fence about seeing it because I have read some terrible reviews and seen clips of it on the internet. From what I've seen of the movie, it's is all wrong.

I'm worried that I'll have to re-read the entire series plus the first 12 chapters of Midnight Sun just to scrub the images from my mind. I'd rather not do that.

On the other hand, I'm glad you liked it. Many people have. There are some great discussions on TwilightMoms.com about the movie and of course anything Twilight related. you should check it out!

I have not read the book, and I thought the movie was horrible. The acting was especially bad.

I read the books but I haven't seen the movie yet. My SIL read the books and saw the movie and she liked it.

I've heard so many different opinions on this movie so I really hope it's somewhere in the middle.

I know some people who hate the Harry Potter movies and think they are the equivalent of a really bad 'B' movie. To each their own I guess. I'm really looking forward to watching it though. Glad to hear that most of you liked it. I really hate it when a movie based on a book is crap.

I really like the book Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman but when I saw that movie. Ugh, so not even close to the book. I was really really disappointed. I hope Twilight isn't like that.

There are people who don't like the Harry Potter movies? Blasphemy!

while it's true that there weren't any Oscar-worthy performances delivered by any of the actors in this movie, I liked the flick very much.

but then again, I could watch Robert Pattinson sit in a recliner all day and find it fascinating.

No kidding. That's what we think in our house too. In fact I just finished cleaning up after my dd's Harry Potter b-day party today.

Susana, When I saw who was playing Edward in the movie I was almost disappointed. Robert Pattinson looks (I'm really not exaggerating) just like an old boyfriend of mine. The way his hair is cut and his facial features.... It ALWAYS takes me by surprise when I see pictures or previews. If it wasn't for the ol' ex, I'd enjoy seeing the movie just for him as well. He is really good looking.

Almost all of the actors (men and women) are gorgeous. The whole movie is a feast for the eyes!

I just finished reading Twilight for the 3rd time and will see the movie next weekend at my friend's house for a special mom's movie night. My friend is obsessed (so obsessed that she's downloaded Muse on her cell, lol) and she's NOT the type to be obsessed with books or movies.
I find them fun...and I have to admit, I really don't think the writing is all that bad.

Verity -- I agree it's all so visually stimulating.
My friend has Robert Pattinson's pictures around her computer. I don't think that Robert Pattinson is gorgeous but his eyes, oh his eyes. It's just the way that he stares at her. I am quite happy in my life, but oh to have someone look at you like that! Whew! There is a poster stand at my Meijer and when I came around the corner and he was standing there with those eyes -- it's embarassing but it really took my breath away just a little!
I've got the book on hold at the library -- I'm excited to read it. Of course having already seen the movie, I'll be thinking of those eyes, oh my.
