Did eliminating foods help your refluxer?

Hey there! I am trying to figure out how far to go with eliminations diets for my reflux baby, 9 week old DD.

I have been off dairy for 6-7 weeks, and off soy for 16 days. Some days I feel things are a little better, other days I think there is no improvement.

So I am trying to decide how far to go in eliminating things to try for an improvement. Of course I want my DD to feel better, but I don't know if it is worth the time/money/effort etc for minimal if any improvement. Of course, maybe I haven't found THE food to eliminate yet, of course.

So what was THE food that you eliminated that made your LO's reflux improve? And how much improvement did you see?

She doesn't have any other signs other than reflux....well, once in a while her poop is greenish or otherwise a little "off" but since it's intermittant it may be a foremilk/hindmilk imbalance as she sometimes doesn't nurse well due to her posterior tongue tie.

Thanks for any thoughts! And my hat is off to you mamas who deal with several serious food allergies/intolerances-you guys are TOUGH!

Hi Kelly,
to answer your title, YES!!!
taking out hidden dairy gave us a big improvement, but it's been about 2 months or so (can't remember actually) and he was still congested/gurgly/trouble swallowing etc.

2 things helped;
1. taking out eggs (I didnt for the longest time just b/c it didn't seem likely) My ND yesterday also said eggs is a big one for congestion

2. chiropractic adjustments, seriously, AMAZINg results in the first visit!

don't have time to expand at the moment, but hth!

Just dairy/soy did it for DS (then took him off reflux meds). But for DD2, we took a whole lot of foods out before we reached baseline.

I've heard of good results with cranial-sacral therapy combined with figuring out problematic foods.

Ok, thanks for everyone's experiences. We've been off both dairy and soy to have seen at least SOME improvement, so we'll start eliminating other things once we get back from having her posterior tt clipped and visiting my sick grandfather.

We've been having chiro adjustments since she was about 2 weeks old, with no difference. we have a CST scheduled for Thursday, the day after her tt clipping.

sDefinately Yes! We eliminated definate triggers of Dairy, Soy, and Egg, and avoid possible triggers of Chocolate and Nuts and Oatmeal. She has been accidentally exposed to the first two (individually) after elimination and the vomiting has started up again and lasted for around 3 days or so.
I messed up with my first baby, he was a refluxer and I tried to eliminate dairy but didnt notice results right away so he went on medication. THis time I tried to educate myself better and waited longer to see results. Eventually You notice things getting better and then you are unsatisfied that it isnt completely gone so you eliminate something else and things get better eventually, but still not 100% then I found the egg trigger. It took a good month or more for her to hit baseline but she finally made it! THe whole process took about 4 months for us.
