Carpeting

We want to get new carpet but I don't know how this works. Do we have to move all of the furniture out of every room being carpeted? Our place is small just two bedrooms so I am sure it can be done in one day but pretty much everything is carpeted so I have no idea where we could put all of the furniture to get it out of the way. If the carpet people can move it around that would be best.

Also what are good things to look for in carpet??

Not carpet?

A friend of mind had his carpet re-done recently. He had to move all of the furniture into rooms not being carpeted. I think he took apart beds to save space when moving them, but everything had to be moved ahead of time. For insurance reasons the installers could not move his stuff.

Well, crap. That's going to royally bite. I guess we'll have to do it over two days or something.

not carpet is not a choice, the complex rules prohibit any sort of hard surface except in the kitchen, bathroom and entry.

call the carpet installers and see if there will be a difference if they come out a couple of times or doing the whole thing in 1 swoop. Think outside the box for storage of your furnature... bathroom in the tub, on the counters in the kitchen, do you have a really nice neighbor you could ask a favor of? an empty unit in the complex that you could store things in for a day? might even check the cost of renting a uhaul for the day to load your stuff in

You would be surprised how much stuff you can fit into a small kitchen and bathroom if you don't plan on using those rooms - I fit most of a four bedroom house into medium kitchen and 2 small bathrooms

I can't even imagine how we would get the couch IN to the bathroom or kitchen, let alone all of the bookcases and the cabinets, dressers, bed, desks, etc. It's a very daunting prospect. Ugh.

the uhaul idea is a possibility, if I can find a place to park one for the day. I bet we could hire people to haul the furniture out and back in or something. I just can't bear the thought of moving all of the furniture myself. Some of it was a PITA to get in, the thought of taking it out again is not a pleasant one.
