Fermented CLO Question

I was checking out the fermented CLO the other day & noticed the syringe.

We take our CLO off of spoons, I use a tsp & the kids use a 1/2 tsp, so I wash it between each of the 3 uses.

I hate washing syringes, especially oily stuff.

How do you do it? Does the syringe top fit over the bottle? I figure I wouldn't have to let the syringe touch anyone's mouth, so I wouldn't really have to wash it if I kept it in the fridge, right?

Is anyone else this lazy?

At first I put it in the dishwasher. Now I measure the FCLO into a measuring spoon instead. Less slimy that way! Also easier to do with an interactive 6 month old in my arms.

So if I wanted to take 2.5 ml, I would use 1/2 tsp. How much do you take, Nan'sMom? How about for the kids? If I gave them 1.4 tsp, they'd be getting 1.25 ml. The dosage on the bottle is 1 ml, so it'd be a little over the adult dosage for them. I give them 1/2 tsp of HVCLO, which is the adult dose on the bottle.

I have a syringe for each kid, and I keep it in the fridge in a plastic baggy with their name on it. I do wash it in the dishwasher every so often, it comes apart. DH and I share a syringe and I wash it daily in the dishwasher.

I find the syringes easy to wash by hand and convenient to use. I just squirt the oil into DS's mouth without letting his lips touch the syringe, lol.

That's what I was planning on doing....but if it never touches their mouths & I keep it in the fridge, I can probably just wash it once a week or something, right?

I take around 3/4 tsp per day (1/4 3 times a day plus HVBO). Not very scientific here, I just figure I need tons because of deficiencies (veg*n for many years, 3 kids in less than 5 years. nursing all 3 still). My older dd (almost 5) gets 1/4 tsp in her morning smoothie then a bit more if she has more smoothie or molasses later in the day (ideally I try for 3 times a day with her but in reality she often gets it once a day and if she is trying to catch up on nutrition (instinctively, such as after a trip and not as high nutrition eating) she gets up to 3 times a day in smoothies). My middle daughter (age 3) takes regular CLO as she hates the taste of the fermented and doesn't usually like the things it can be hidden in (although if she wants a smoothie I mix some FCLO into her glass). My youngest is 6 months old and hasn't gotten solids yet.

Just be careful with the squirting. I did this on my first try and aimed it for the back of my mouth. It came shooting out, felt awful and felt like it burned the back of my throat. I have way better luck drinking it with water (I put it into the front of my mouth and swallow it back with some water).

Since we've been doing it forever, we have a ton of syringes! We all use sep. syringes (just in case someone is coming down with something- and one kids is allergic to cinnamon, but the other not...), measure using the top thingy, squirt into appropriate mouths, and toss in the sink. When I'm doing dishes, I have soapy water and I pull and push the plunger in and out into the soapy water a few times (cleans the inside of the syringe), then I separate the two pieces and wash the plunger. Rinse and drip dry. The whole operation for 3 syringes takes about 1.5minutes. Worth it to me to keep from innoculating the CLO with germs from possible saliva contamination (even though we squirt and don't touch to our mouths).
