I think I want to go PUL covers, mostly for prefolds, for a few fitteds in larger than infant sizes.

I've been looking at the Bummis Whisper Wrap, Bummis Super Bright, Thirsties, ProWrap Classic, Cot'n Wrap, Bumkins vented, and Lifewrap.

Money IS an issue. I'm looking for the best value. They all seem to be about the same price, with the ProWraps and LifeWraps being significantly cheaper (and I've found the Bumkins on sale at a few places). So I'd prefer to go with those, but I've read some reviews on Thirsties that say they are the greatest cover ever in the world.

I'll be getting them for different stages, so any comment on different ones that are better for different stages (if one is best for newborns, another best for 15-30 lbs, etc.) or if some are better for prefolds not fitteds, or vice versa, would be great, too.

I'm using Thirsties and love the way they fit.

I always found that the Bummis Whisper Wrap worked best to contain everything!

Thirsties fit different than Bummis... Thirsties are wider and lower on the legs... Bummis come higher on the belly and legs. Thirsties and Bummis Super Brite have the exposed laminate on the inside so you can wipe them out - this is really convenient. Bummis Super Whisper Wrap are really well-made and last forever, plus the prints are adorable and look even better in real life. You can't go wrong with any of these covers, really.

Bummis Super Brite run the smallest for newborns, followed by Bummis Super Whisper Wrap, then Thirsties. Thirsties medium are big and last a long time... most kids won't get to large Thirsties.

Bummis are best for trifolding prefolds. Thirsties are good if you are a terrible prefold snappi-er and can't get a tight leg gusset, since the cover comes lower you can do less tucking.

Cot'n Wrap can only be washed on cold/delicate with powder detergent... a pain in the butt to care for. Don't bother with them.

Bumkins vented - the aplix tabs are square and sharp. Don't like that cutting into baby's tummy.

If money is paramount, get Bummis Super Whisper Wrap - they are so well-made and last forever.

I really like Bummis Super Bright, but the BSWW are great as well. I have fallen in love with snaps instead of velcro though, and *really* love Juicytoots covers. They are a little more, but they've hed up better for me than anything slse, and the snaps mean that they don't wear out.

We use both the Bummis Whisper Wraps and Thirsties and love them both.

I do like that the Thirsties have leg gussets for that extra protection though.

I guess the "LifeWrap" is supposed to be "LiteWrap"? I LOVE those. I just bought the last two XL for DS from nickisdiapers the other day. I really like those because of their bigger size and higher rise. They never leak and a PF fits perfectly. Also, with only 8 Dollars a pair, they are rather cheap.

I don't know how the Thirsties are but I think the ones from 'diaperkit.com' are like Thirsties. I mainly use the ones from diaperkit.com and really like them. I have a frew prowraps which I never really liked for some reason. Never tried Bummies though.

So, I give thumbs up for LiteWrap and Thristies.

Our favorite now is the Thirsties cover. Especially for the price ($11.25) they've held up well for us (I wash my wraps with the diapers, but take them out and hang them dry as opposed to in the dryer, same for other PUL products like our diaper pail liners and dry bags) and run bigger but can be cinched up for a good fit, meaning that they'll fit for a long time and I won't have to buy the next size up for quite a long while.

I have to add that we like have a few different covers tho because it gives us more flexibility on what will work with different diapers and how long they fit well. So in addition to the Thirsties, I also have the Bummis Super Whisper Wrap, Bummis Super Brite, and Imse Vimse wraps.

When DD was in the smalls, we used the BSWW's and Imse Vimse. The Imse Vimse lasted longer size-wise. Downside to BSWW and Imse Vimse is you can't wipe them out inside and if LO gets really wet, the cover gets a little damp and sometimes stinky. The Thirsties and Super Brites can be wiped out- exception is if poop gets on the fabric edges of the cover.

I prefer the Thirsties to the Super Brite because Thirsties are less stiff and plasticky feeling and thus fit a little trimmer. They also hang dry super fast. I also think the leg gussets are better on the Thirsties. Super Brite's leg gussets are so thin as to almost not be worth the bother, but they work ok and we haven't had any total blow-outs with any of the above-listed covers.

ETA: Different wraps work better at different ages IMO. Bummis SSW and Prowraps seem better for newborns.

I love Bummis! They fit my ds great when he was in cds and I got more for my baby due next month. I got some Thirsties to try for the new babe too but haven't tried them out yet--they look great though and seem to run bigger.

I did NOT like Bumpkins and Prowraps were just OK.

good luck choosing!

My bumkins, biobottoms, prowraps and litewraps were ok.

I would have to say that Nikky's are the best cover ever. Around since the 80's. Close to the same price. And they are not PUL -- they are available in several breathable fabrics, a bonus over PUL, and pretty much bullet proof. Check and see if you can find them used anywhere.

My faves are bsww and thirsties, no questions asked! They are more expensive than the litewraps and prowraps but they work great and have good resale value too if you're going to sell them when you're done. The bsww don't have gussets but were virtually all that i used with my small bottomed ds, my dd however needs the gussets on the thirsties, her heiny is huge! Gussets are good for pf's too since they allow for a lot of diaper underneath. good luck!
ps you can get them on www.nickisdiapers.com with free shipping

I didn't like the Thirsties. We had wing-droop issues with them. (When I fasten them, the side parts of the front of the diaper droop down and don't cover the diaper properly.) They worked okay for my girls, but with DS, where the wet was all up in front, he consistently soaked the waistband of his pants, even though the diaper wasn't all the way wet. I never had that problem with any other wrap-style cover.

Of the others, I've used both Bummis covers, the Proraps, and the LiteWraps. I love them all. I didn't recognize the LiteWrap on your poll, because of the spelling, so I didn't vote for it, but it's a great cover.
