No-Stressor Pregnant Zen Queens - Page 12

Hello everyone,

Glad you all had a good Easter.

I know what you mean about forgetting you're pregnant - there's so much change going on at work to worry about that I hardly think about it during the day, and the rest of the time I seem to constantly be trying to persuade my other half not to buy any more big boys toys that he can't afford and we don't have the space for!

I'm trying to keep happy about it all - think it's getting better although I still have the odd bad day (but that's normal, for me anyway!..). I'm feeling pretty good at the moment because I finally got around to trying the pregnancy fitness and pilates DVDs that I bought ages ago - one yesterday evening and one the day before. You wouldn't believe how much I ached afterwards! I didn't even know I had some of the muscles, let alone ever used them before.. so it must be doing some good.

I agree on the yoga front - I have a pregnancy yoga DVD as well that I already tried a couple of times and it's really good without all the aches and pains, and huffing and puffing of the others. And the meditation bit it had near the end was great. I think I'll try to go to some yoga classes, though, as I want to make sure I'm doing it properly...

Hi Ladies! I saw my CNM today for the first time this pregnancy. I normally see my hb midwife, but the CNM orders my ultrasound, blood tests, etc. Anyway, she thought I was measuring large and asked if it was possible that I could be farther along than we thought. I told her that I was charting my BBT when we got PG, so I know exactly when this baby was concieved. TO make a long story short, she ordered an ultrasound to make sure there is only one baby in there. Much to my relief, I can happily report that I am pregnant with only one baby (thank God!), but he/she is measuring a little bigger than my dates. Our sons were/are both very small, so that probably won't keep up for long. It was great to see the baby, and everything looked great! Now I have a little picture to look at, too.

I was so happy that I went to Motherhood and dropped a small fortune to outfit myself, and had a fabulous Indian buffet for lunch . Then I bought myself a new pair of sandals! Woo hoo

My DH and both of my boys went camping for the weekend, so I have the whole weekend to myself! I'm having lunch with a friend tomorrow, and I'm going to get a pedicure. It looks like we're going to have some sunshine tomorrow, too, so maybe I'll take the dog for a hike.

I hope you are all doing well!

Yay for new clothes and Indian food! : I went to a great Indian buffet last week, chicken tiki masala, a yummy goat dish, palak paneer...mmm...and of course the BEST bread- fresh from the tandor...:

I definitely already feel the need to switch over the flats- heels are killing me already...and thankfully Spring is here so I can return to my beloved flipflops!

You girls are tempting me with talk of Indian food. Now I have a huge craving for it!! Yum, yum. And since I no longer feel sick 24-7 I actually have the appetite to eat a huge Indian meal.
The Indian food was great, but I had Japanese food twice on Saturday, and it was soooooo good. Now that I've got my appetite back, I think I need to slow down a bit. When I was buying clothes last week I saw what I really look like from behind and was a bit taken aback (maybe mortified, but I'm trying not to be too dramatic!). I started walking again, and I figure, since I can't exactly lose weight right now, at least I can work on toning up my backside and thighs. So, I walk up hills. I hope it helps.

I'm on day 2 of no meds!!! I forgot them one night, and last night I decided not to take them. So far I'm feeling pretty good. I dare say I think I'm mostly out of the woods. The second trimester really is soooooo much better!

minsca: Congrats on not feeling sick 24/7!!! Is anyone else's m/s getting any better?
Yup. My morning sickness is finally almost gone. I'm almost 19 weeks. Now I only feel sick once or twice a day when I haven't eaten enough. I finally took my seabands off. Glad others are feeling better too.

I'm convinced now that this one is a little boy. My girls I had m/s until 14-16 weeks. But this one though I felt sicker earlier and I think I felt sicker as well, I only had a few days of puking, and I've been feeling a lot better since I was 10 weeks. (Unless I get overtired or forget to eat). And I've heard that boys you aren't quite as sick with... so : as I must admit I really would like a little boy.

I was sicker than I've ever been EVER with this pregnancy and it's girl #3. Go figure that one out.

I have 2 boys already and have never been as sick as I have been this time around. I am, (and have been for some time before getting PG this time around) healthier and more physically active than I ever was before or during my previous pregnancies, so that definitely is not why I am sicker this time. We'll have to wait until October, though, to find out if that's because I'm having a girl. Honestly, if I do have a girl, I would have traded the horrible sickness I've had for another boy, for sure. But, I really don't have a preference this time around, so it's easy for me to say that .
I'm sicker too, but last time with dd I hardly had any m/s at all. This time it just comes up a couple times a day.

I'm starting to really believe there is a baby in there. : I'm feeling movements - but sometimes I still have a hard time believing it's the baby. But the movements I'm feeling now literally feel like little pushes from the inside, and can't be mistaken for digestion, muscle twitches, or gas anymore. I guess I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that there really is a baby in there that will be born in October. I'm hoping to hear the heartbeat with the fetoscope soon - so hopefully that will make it more real for me.
No stress here. I saw my CNM yesterday and we found a heartbeat!!:
She thought it would be too early but I asked her to look anyway and there it was! It was so nice to hear.

I'm still feeling nauseated, but I feel better than last week. I think I'm doing a better job of eating more frequently and more protein. But I'm running out of things to eat that I can actually get down. We ran out of turkey slices today and I about jumped on dh for not telling me we were out. He felt bad and I felt bad because I didn't know what to take for lunch. Yuck! I still can't seem to eat enough before bed. I'm waking up STARVING 2-3 times a night, and then I have a smoothie ready and soy milk. Still though it's driving me crazy and not helping my sleep.

The weather has been nice and so we've been getting out for walks in the evening. I feel so much better getting out in the fresh air. It's also been nice to open up windows in the house, the smells were killing me.

I'm still crashing at about 8 pm and yoga last week was out of the question. Maybe this weekend?! I've got a three day weekend coming up and I plan to enjoy it.
My morning sickness seems to be totally gone now as well. I didn't have it badly as long as I made sure I ate something regularly - maybe it's just that I'm getting better at making sure I don't let myself get too hungry...

I'm 19 weeks now and felt the first definite kicks yesterday - it's only noticeable when I'm sitting still or lying quietly awake in bed but it's great to know that I'm really not imagining being pregnant and there really is a baby in there!
Also my tummy has suddenly ballooned - I thought it was starting to become noticeable to others, but no-one has commented and my best friend still claims I've got a smaller tummy than her, however the last few days it's started to look pretty big (well, relatively - this is my first so I have nothing to compare it to!) so I've had to choose the clothes I wear to work carefully to avoid people starting to comment. I can only wear a few pairs of my trousers now - but the ones I'd been meaning to get rid of as they were to big are really coming into their own!!

But we had some bad news this week as the family pet bird died and I didn't realise how attached I was to it so I've been pretty tearful - hope it's not upsetting my baby when I think about the hole its left in our lives. I really can't believe how much it's affecting me - could it just be that I'm more emotional because of my pregnancy?

RosemaryDawn.... It could be because you are more emotional, but still it does deserve a

Well my fears about my irritable uterus flaring up early have become a reality. I started getting contractions on Wednesday whenever I get up and do something more physically challenging (such as vacumming the floor, or making the bed) Though I should be happy as the dr hasn't put me on strict bedrest "yet". But the prospect of not being able to even do the dishes without contractions starting up for the next 6 months is somewhat depressing.
I expect I will be posting in this threat a TON! I find recently for me the biggest stressor is lack of UNINTERRUPTED sleep. I only get about 3-4 hours then I'm waking up to sleep and can't fall back asleep after that... I drive to work at 7am and by 9am I'm NEEDING a nap.

My co-workers are noticing a huge change in my energy levels so I guess I will have to tell them soon. I work in group home with people with disabilities and it requires A LOT of energy.

Well thanks for making a threat for people to dump thier baggage in!

XOXO

Oh, I hope you don't have to go on bedrest. I had an OB with my first pregnancy, and she put me on bedrest because of Braxton-Hicks contractions at around 30 weeks. It sucked (and I think it was totally unnecessary). With my second I started having BH sometime around 18-20 weeks and went all the way to term with my son--he was born 1 week early. I'm 16 weeks this time and am expecting BH any time. Are your contractions more than just BH? I've been having a lot of round ligament pain lately that is really irritating...but it usually goes away if I just sit down or if I have a little bit of wine. The same helped with my BH last time around. Good luck to you!

Yeah they aren't just BH's. I've been getting BH's since about 6 weeks. These feel like labor contractions. Usually last about 30-45 sec and are 2 min apart. I've had this with both my other pregnancies too, though with DD1 I and all the dr's, nurses and doula thought it was prodromal labor. I slowly dilated 3 cm over 4 days before being so exhausted I begged them to break my water. Of course thinking I was in labour I walked a lot.
With DD2 they started at 26 weeks, whenever I walked and at the end all I had to do was stand up to get them to start. They did make me dilate (but very very slowly) and my cervix kept on getting shorter and shorter. I didn't know for sure if enough contractions and excercise would actually make me go into labour so I tried it at 36 weeks 6 days. I had DD2 the next morning.
So this time I'm not being so calm about these contractions as I feel like eventually if I get enough of them I will go into labour. But I think it will take thousands and thousands of contractions to get to that stage. Even still, I'm taking the dr's advice seriously this time. (plus my intuition is telling me to take it easy)
I : would drink .5 glass of wine with DD2 to stop the contractions too. But I was in my 3rd trimester then, so wasn't so worried about the effects of the wine.

Steph - How many weeks are you, or when are you due? I will add you to the list! We are very happy you joined our group!
: Happy Monday, ladies! Just checking in...I'm still following this thread, but things are quiet on my end since I've had no symptoms to report for the past 6 weeks now. I'll be 14 weeks tomorrow, so officially in the 2nd trimester! A couple times I think I might have felt some tiny little movements, but not hard enough or consistent enough to be sure yet.

minsca - Hope you are able to control those cx without having to go on bedrest. The thought of bedrest terrifies me as I can't imagine what I would do with an active toddler if I couldn't chase after him. Do you have friends/family who can help lighten your load now so you hopefully never end up on bedrest?

Steph - : Welcome!

rosemarydawn - : for definite kicks! Isn't it so much fun?!

Hey Ladies, where are you all?

I've been a little absent lately since we were out of town for a few days and as soon as I got back some spring fever kicked in and I've been cleaning A LOT. Anyway, I'm 17weeks now!!! Wow!!! I haven't been sick in a couple of weeks and have been feeling pretty good lately. I still need a little extra sleep each night, but I'm not exhausted all the time, either. The second trimester really is so much better.

My one complaint is that I'm huge!!! My belly is quite large, which really isn't my "problem". It's that the rest of me, especially my butt and thighs, are ballooning. I'm hoping with some regular swimming and eliptical trainer workouts I can get that under control. My overall weight gain is not that much, less than 10 lbs, but the distribution just isn't really favorable to me. Oh, well! I have a mw appointment today, and it will be the first one my DH has been able to attend, so I'm excited for him to hear the heartbeat

How is everyone else doing?

How is everyone?
I haven't checked this thread in awhile and couldn't find it at first.
I'm 22 weeks now and doing pretty well. Baby is moving a lot. Our ultrasound is this monday in the afternoon. We're going to find out if we're having a boy or a girl. I'm excited because then we can really focus on names. We can also let our DD know if she has a brother or sister in there. I'll let you all know what I find out.
We're having a girl!
I'm so excited for DD to have a little sister.
