Do I need to be concerned with sun lotions? Obviously is the answer. So looking ahead, any brand suggestions? I have always bought Mustela but cannot even begin to grasp the ingredients. My DS is SOY and DAIRY free so I am wondering if others out there have any suggestions.

Here are the mustela ingredients:
Active Ingredients: Titanium Dioxide (11.1%), Zinc Oxide (5%)
Inactive Ingredients: Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, C12 15 Alkyl Benzoate, Cyclopentasiloxane, Isodecyl Neopentanoate, Glycerin, C6 8 Alkyl C3-6 Alkyl Glucoside Dimethicone, PEG 45, Dodecyl Glycol Copolymer, Aluminum Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Sodium Chloride, Dextrin Palmitate, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil Unsaponifiables, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Phenoxyethanol, Hydroxypropyl Guar, Aloe Barbadensis (Leaf Extract), Methylparaben, Disodium EDTA, Zinc Gluconate, Butylparaben, Tartaric Acid, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben

I'm a horrible parent. During the summer, we live on a lake, and we're outside almost all day every day. I don't put sunscreen on them unless we're going out on the boat. (1) I want them to get Vitamin D, and (2) they are sort of self regulating. If they get hot, they go play in the sandbox (covered) or go inside. It's not like they're laying on the beach. They're playing in the woods, up in the treehouse, etc. I use Coppertone spray usually, because the smell doesn't bother me that much (45spf). The only one I can use is Hawaiian Tropics, because of the smell (almost all of them give me a wicked headache). None of them have ever bothered her skin (Triclosan antibacterial soap gave her hives everywhere though). It's not one of the things I worry about. I probably should, but I don't. Sorry I'm not any help.

I don't use it myself and I'm only concerned because he'll be going for long walks with GM and GP soon and I just want to make sure he's not burning etc.

So he'll just be "laying in the sun"....
Does he react to milk/soy with his skin? If it's just GI issues, I don't know that I'd worry so much. If it's an eczema reaction, then I'd be extra careful. It seems like there's got to be one without soybean oil in it (that just sounds weird to me anyway). The Coppertone one in the closet has jojoba oil and palm kernel oil... but it does have Tocopherol (isn't that usually soy derived?). That's the only brand I have right now (it's DH's).
