My LOs one eat the oats anymore

DD1 is dairy allergic and since I've started soaking our oats in lemon juice or ACV DH and DD1 has stopped eating the oats. They say they taste too sour. It used to be a favorite breakfast in our house. I use the juice or ACV as per NT instructions 2 Tbsp. Can I do soaking in just plain water? I have to agree it would have to be an acquired taste. I just eat is as fast as I can.

I soak in plain water overnight. I tried soaking with whey or lemon a couple times and my daughter wouldn't eat the oatmeal. I tasted it and it didn't taste good at all!

we don't do dairy here and so we do almond milk and or coconut milk with water too.

sometimes i do a teaspoon of lemon juice or acv

you can add a little baking soda before you cook them to cut the acidity

If I just use almond or coconut milk, does it still help with the phytic acids and digestion? I made pancakes and soaked with lemon juice instead of ACV, and you couldn't really tell it, but it had baking soda in the recipe. I'm not sure about adding it to oats or rice. So, even if I use just water or almond milk, it is still worthwhile to soak grains?
