Well, it's that day of the week again. Time to put down the old thread and start with the new.
As always, welcome to the newcomers. We hope that you'll come to enjoy the camaraderie you'll find here on the Allergies forum. Feel free to ask any questions and share anything you may learn.
Things have slowed down in the last week. Our main detox campaigner/researcher, whoMe, has been busy studying for tests and visiting family.
I have started a new thread in the Health and Healing forum, "Detox and biochemistry threads and links". Please share your detox or biochemistry related links and threads in that thread so that we can keep track of them more easily. I will see if I can get a moderator to sticky it.

In addition, if you're a supplement kind of person, please go weigh in on
kortner's Supplements thread

And don't forget to go and tease the Keeper of the Virgin Chicken!

I think that's it. My brain hurts now from doing the Detox threads thread so I'm going to go find something else to do for a bit.

ETA: The Detox threads thread has been stickied and closed by allgirls. (THANK YOU!!) If I've missed a thread, please pm me to let me know so that I can add it. (I'm pretty sure I've missed a couple.)

Okay, I have (another) question. How much B12 should I and my DS be taking? I have the MTHFR mutation that requires folate and not folic acid, and I *think* B12 is required as well. My son has a sacral dimple but has not been tested for the mutation.

Subbing so I can keep up.

Congrats to springmum on passing the beet pee test! :

kortner and waluso, I hope your dc are feeling better soon. kortner, you have an amazingly positive attitude.

NewMama, I've heard good things about adding ground flax seed to smoothies, if that's an option. I can't answer your question about the MTHFR mutation and B12 though.

neveryoumindthere, I haven't been feeling well but I don't think it's detox since I haven't added anything that would help that way yet (unless my prenatals or adrenal support count?). I think I'm just plain old getting sick.

It's the weekend so ds1 is home, which means I have to provide lunch at home. He's stuck with sandwiches because I feel terrible. I am making roasted eggplant for them though. Which I just realized I forgot to put garlic on. Oops. Oh well, there's garlic in the hummus. He's being a nice little boy today (other than driving me crazy, but that's pretty easy today since I feel horrible) and staying home to try to help me get the house somewhat in order. He's such a good kid and I'm so lucky.

Wow JR- you are quite the organizer these days!! It must be your awesome new remedy. How are you feeling (besides getting sick) anyway?

Waluso--the getting sick could be a good sign. My son's on the other end of things, he's one of the kids who would get sick at the drop of a hat (I administered A LOT of vitamin C to the kiddo that way, with the medicine syringe), and this fall/winter has been the first one that I think he's been sick only as much as a typical almost 3-year old (never mind that he eats better than most almost 3yos and gets more supps than any 5 adults). And now he runs high fevers (all those illnesses before, he never seemed to get much, if any fever), it seems like his body is getting back in balance.

It really seems like there should be some correlation between the types of food allergies we have (number? symptoms? IgG/IgE? something else) and whether our kids are the ones who get sick all the time or never. I mean--I'm glad that it seems like my son's normalizing, but I still sorta want to understand.

hmmm... maybe someone should do a poll. (I'm feeling too lazy today to start a new thread. ) DD is one who is allergic to everything, and NEVER ever ever gets sick. She's been "sick" 3 times since birth, which included a bit of runny nose and a temp maybe 1 degree higher than normal for about 24 hours, then all better.

I used to be a wonderful organizer, so it probably is the remedy helping me get back in balance, yes. Now if I can just manage to apply it to my house (although in honesty, I'm starting to ).
The last two days, I've been a total bear. I was mad at DH all day yesterday and I totally lost it on DS1 this morning. He's one of those kids that often seems to need *constant* attention- and the way he gets it is to constantly talk (This happened. That happened. Raph did this. Can I do that? I'm going pee. I peed on my hand. I washed it. I flushed the toilet. : I really don't need to know *everything*.). That's a very bad thing in the morning in general for me, much less on mornings where I'm not well.
Maybe it's just that it's time for a new dose?
Beyond the last two days, I've been feeling great- except for the fainting spells. I always have something to complain about, don't I? But my mood is generally good (not great, but much better) and I'm feeling more like my normal self- more affectionate, more level-headed, more organized... I haven't felt so well since just before my last miscarriage (which was when I joined/found MDC). So it's been a few years.
Mememe. I'm going to go find something to do (I hope). I think the eggplant is finished roasting now.

I've seen links related to methyl groups (undermethylators get sick, overmethylators don't) and to cortisol.

And I'm trying to find a program where you can make an ongoing survey - so someone creates an (anonymous) login, then answers whatever questions the want that day. And they can come back when there are more questions and add to it. And then you can go back and analyze and find all sorts of connections Anyone know of such a thing or do I need to ask dh to write it?

I also have an idea for 'what means what and what do I do about it' graphic. Hopefully I'll get a chance to make it soon!

hey ladies,
I'm still feeling totally gross, but happy to feel this way because I believe "it's working"

I had a question about b-vitamins. If I was drinking enough water, would my pee stop being NEON yellow or is that just hte nature of B's

Welcome back! And I you too!
Going just by that information, I'd guess that DS1 and I are both over-methylators. It's pretty rare that I actually get sick with colds and stuff.
DH says there is a program like that but he can't remember the name of it. He didn't take note since it wasn't something he felt he'd ever need.

If you haven't found this thread (yet another whoMe contribution), you might want to go check it out. Good info on there as to why B vites make pee neon.

DS1 has 2 IgG reactions and one IgE... and 1 that tests neither, but I guess would be IgG since no test is perfect. He never gets sick either.

You ladies are unbelievably amazing! The energy in this forum is astounding!

Ho hum. The weeks are absolutely flying past. Its 3 weeks since ppaf and I feel "off" today. Could this be PMS? I'm home alone with the child almost 24/7 right now with no respite in sight until the 17th of March! Wish us luck...

Taslyn's rash flared when I was stupid and weak enough to eat some junk, but otherwise she seems to be doing well. She's really talking now, but we both get frustrated when I can't figure out what she's trying to tell me.

Its snowing again... we had another 8 inches fresh overnight- yippee!

You know, I am totally just repeating what another wise mama on here has said (PB - I will keep searching to link the post where she said this...), and I think it's might be sticking! What was it my teacher always said? 'Illness is a gift. Unwrap it.' Darnit if mine's not wrapped in twelve boxes within boxes and duct tape!!!

NewMama, I've heard good things about adding ground flax seed to smoothies, if that's an option. I can't answer your question about the MTHFR mutation and B12 though.

This is not helpful for dosing amts., but in my supp. research here I put this comment aside from P/SB on folate, B12 and others.

Oh, I hope you feel better soon! I ate raw garlic for a week straight and went to the coast to heal from the ickies when I was pregnant with DS.

You are absolutely NOT stupid and weak!! Everyone slips up now and then.

Someone mentioned detox symptoms a while back, and I just had a lightbulb moment when I was in the shower... my face has been breaking out a little the last few days- which is somewhere around the time I started taking the methyl-B12. Could that have kick started something for me with just that one supplement??

Ds was sick 10 of 14 weeks his first winter at 6months old. I (damn, just remembered), I even went on antibiotics that Christmas.

I'd lost 40# of toxin loaded pregnancy weight which I dumped into him. And what stress!! But, after that, he didn't really get sick much.

Check out this survey tool. I haven't tried it yet.

Yes, Jacqueline, A+ on the organization. And I don't do rewards and punishments.

Try some Bach Flower remedies. I LOVE Rescue Remedy. But, I bet there is one for cabin fever.

Check these remedy finder links to help you select which ones most speak to you.

Good point. I've had some breakouts this week too, since starting the NAC-moly-sel. For me, it could be detox or just hormones switching.
Thanks for the hug. I know I'm not stupid and weak, but at that moment
I definitely let myself be taken over by something undesirable.

Quoting myself here. He still has a bitter taste with everything he eats today. He claims it's not quite as strong, but it's still there and bugging him. Any takers?

Zinc deficiency can mess with your taste buds...
