Ok so I just went through my diapers... This is what I have... Not sure what I need/want. Abrielle's skin was so sensitive I didnt CD all the time. Hopefully Baby Gloria wont have the same issues... Anyhoo

6 XS TEENY TINY PF's
12 S PF

1 small swaddlebee aio
4 M lucy's hope chest AIO

4 Small Thirsties covers
6 fleece inserts
3 microfiber towel inserts
4 fleece/towel inserts

I think I need more Small PFS 12 more would be nice, I can wash everyday, although would prefer every other. I also need snappis.

Also, my washer in the basement is free, but only gets cold water. Anyone only wash dipes in cold water and have success? If not, I have to ask the landlord about hot water.

I have larger size PF's and 2 L AIO's. Any suggestions? I want to CD full time. I have some wool covers, but I would like to freecycle them or sell them because I didn't like them.

ya I would get at LEAST 12 more pf. I just bought a lot of 18 KL0s and I still think we need a few more for the nb stage. I have a lot of SOS fitteds too. But I can never have enough SOS. hahahaha

You will probably want some more xs Thirsties covers - their small size isn't really designed to fit a nb. xs fits 6-12 lbs, so you'll probably want that unless you think you'll have a biiiiig baby.

I'm shooting for 6 nb covers this time.(We're in the same ddc ) I'm going to use mostly nb & infant pf's (nb cuz my last baby was pretty small), with a few fitteds and possibly aio's thrown in for the middle of the night when I'm half asleep. You can always get more bigger sized diapers later when you need them and know what you want/what works.

I have seen mamas here who wash with cold, but I'm sure it's much trickier. Hopefully they can give you some good info.

if it were me:

to get started I would up the number of small prefolds to 24 one can do well with that number. 36 is an even more comfy number but 24 with 4 covers is doable if one is looking for the least money involved. the standard suggestion is usually 6 covers, but I could get away with 4 if needed. I just had to remember to hand wash immediately so they were dry for the next needed round. With one baby it quickly became a routine. With two in diapers, I liked having the extra covers more than the money.
It is usually my suggestion of Nikky's covers. One at night in particular was very helpful to me. I found they contained leaks better than any other covers. They have been a reputable company since the 80's with a quality product.

Lucy's Hope Chest's are long time good WAHM diaper. Getting them in mediums was a wise move imo -- that is a size you will get more wear time from, more bang for the buck.

If the washer is a top loader you can add in some hot water from another souce in the house to off set the cold if necessary.

WICKED GOOD IDEA ABOUT ADDING HOT WATER FROM MY PLACE!!!!!!! LOL I never thought of that.

As for covers, I can def afford more thirsties covers. I will have to look at Nikki's too. I will def get some XS covers too.

As for PF's, should i just get more smalls and stay away from the XS, or get 6 more of those too? Abrielle was 7/13 at birth and was 10 lbs by 1 month. She outgrew her XS's quickly.

I love my lucy's. Her patterns are amazing and her customer service is great. The mediums I have, 2 are used and in good working condition, but they are smaller than the new M that I ordered. They fit Abrielle from about 1 month until about 6-7 months believe it or not. I may take those out now and have them in the rotation.

HEY MAMA! I forgot about those XS covers! I remember they fit her for a little while but were great for the NB stage and totally necessary. I like my AIO's for middle of the night changes too. Especially becaause you can stuff them extra thick for heavy wetting...

Anyway... THANKS for the advice!
