If you were trying to sell your home...

(and you're using a broker, but think additional "marketing" I can do might be helpful)...

would you

1. Post the link to the listing on your facebook account (I have it set so only my friends can see anything about me)?

2. Email the listing link to all my friends and some acquaintances?

I really, really want to sell this...

I posted my house listing on craiglist and zillow, and linked it to my broker's email. I believe she got a few emails, but all of the serious inquiries came from the MLS listing. I don't think it could hurt...

Perhaps you could email it to friends and ask them to send it to anyone who they think would be interested...

My mother listed her last condo with a realtor, but found a buyer on her own.. she just talks to EVERYONE.. she found someone looking for a place to stay in the summer/vacation, etc and mom gave her the number for the realtor.. a few days later the lady made an offer on the place sight unseen... she offered several thousand more than the asking price, but did want all appliances/draperies/etc to stay..

I wish your mom would come sell my place! I'll throw in whatever they want!

Ok, I have a related, but slightly different question.

Is it tacky, or otherwise in bad form to send the link for the listing of one's home to friends/acquaintances?

I have forwarded it to several close friends and family members, asking them to pass it along if they anyone who might be interested. These are people I've known for years, and feel totally comfortable doing so. But, I have some newer friends, who are local, and frankly are more likely to know people who might be interested in my buying my home than many of the first group.

But, would it be weird to send it to them? It's public information, the could find it on MLS, but I just don't want to do something that people might think is off-putting.

SEND THE LINK to everyone you know! In this market, you need any little bit of help you can get. I personally am not offended by the idea. Parents are always posting their house listings on my neighborhood mom's group. (HUGE group)

I would do anything I could to get my house out there, but if you do post on craigslist or similar you may want to say that you are the owner advertising your house that is listed. Your broker has info that has to be in his ads so people know he/she is an agent so if that is missing it may get removed.

I would send an email, post to Craigslist, facebook and just let the word out in general. If people aren't interested they'll delete or skip the "ad".

Well, I've done it all, I think! I've emailed most of my friends/acquaintances, put the link to the listing in my FB status, put an ad on craigslist, and told everyone I know...here's hoping!
