Hello morning sickness

Wow, I was really hoping this could wait a couple weeks. I just puked up my breakfast and my prenatal. Ugh. I haven't thrown up in probably six or seven years, and I had forgotten how much it sucks! Any tips from the experienced mamas out there?

Oh I'm sorry! I hope you are feeling better.

I was sick for 22 weeks with Carter, so I obviously don't know how to keep it at bay. I've heard eating before you get out of bed (something like crackers) and eating frequently helps. Neither did much for me.

I'm sorry mama. I puked for the first time yesterday (oh wait a min, first time for this pregnancy, not first time ever), and all I can say is IT SUCKS! Truth is even after 2 previous pregnancies in which I was sick and sick, I don't have any real good tricks up my sleeves to help get rid of the nausea.
Be careful of dehydration. Sometimes it is the prenatal that does it. I have been known to take a kids vitamin and a B complex with folic acid for those first few months. The iron in the prenatal is what does it for me. Try Floradix (a liquid iron that tastes yummy). Try some ginger. But honestly the best advice that I could give (but I couldn't take when I was pregnant with dd1) was just to not let puking and feeling sick ruin your day. You'll feel sick no matter what you do, but if you are laying on the couch (like I was with dd1) you seem to feel worse because you are constantly thinking about how sick you feel. But if you keep busy with life, then though you still are going to puke and feel sick, at least you have something else to keep your mind off of being sick so much. Easier said, then done, I know.
Oh and one thing that I found does help is to always have something in my mouth. And by that I mean always have something in my mouth. But what helps one person might not help another. It is a trial and error thing.
: It does get better eventually, and the end result is soo worth it!!!

Nora, so sorry you're going through MS already.

I've heard preggie pops help a bunch. http://www.doulashop.com/products/mo...ggie-pops.html

I know with my previous pregnancies, I would really dislike the prenatal vitamins I was taking. This time I've been taking Rainbow Light Complete Prenatal System. They're food based and contain stuff that should help with the MS. Knock on wood, I still haven't been afflicted by it.

Also, what would make me have a pukey feeling in the past was the burping of the DHA's. This time I'm taking nordic Naturals DHA and I don't seem to belch them at all.

Good luck to you.

Oh no...I had it pretty bad w/ DD, I feel your pain. Try saltine crackers (or Club) w/ cheddar cheese? That's what I'm munching on right now. Try taking your vitamin in the evening, mornings were harder for me, and if you can't tolerate it, there are other prenatals that are better for nausea. Other than that, you can join the HG thread in the main I'm Pregnant forum for tips from other women.
