way to tell difference between aluminum & stainless steel pressure cooker?

I've decided I want a pressure cooker, and will be looking for one at garage sales this year. I know they make both aluminum & SS pressure cookers. Is there a way to tell which material a pressure cooker is made out of?

In my experience aluminum is quite light (I have a big aluminum pot and it's really light). Aluminum is also lighter colored and not very shiny. SS will be heavier and shinier (no appearance of tarnish) and look more like metal.

magnet? not all kinds of SS are magnetic though

aluminum does look different than steel - more grey in color, less shiny

also it smells like an aluminum can to me. (kinda like the smell of keys in my opinion). Stainless steel is a lot denser and usually thinner but harder. aluminum is generally thicker but lighter.
