Lucy Jane, our beautiful daughter, arrived at 2:28pm on 2/28!
8.6 lbs, 20 inches
Labor began in the early hours of the morning, and at 9:30 the doula came to the house. At 10:30 we got to the hospital. We went a little earlier than I thought I would because I had to get the antibiotics for the group b strep, but when we arrived my MW announced that I was 8cm and plus 1 station! I received the first antibiotics and then got in the tub for awhile. After that I was on the birthing ball for awhile, and started pushing at 9 plus cm, and my water broke. The MW didn't think there would be enough time to complete the antibiotics, which would mean a bunch of tests in the nicu, but as she was crowning it was the fourth hour at the hospital and they were able to complete the treatment just before she came out! I pushed for about an hour, and she came diving out with both arms up by her chin! I had really bad back labor, and it turns out her little hands where responsible for that! It was about a 12 hour labor in all, pretty much everything on our birth plan worked out perfectly, and the hospital staff was great and very supportive of my natural birth.
She's a healthy little one and a great nurser, too!
