Personally I really wanted to go camping while pregnant, especially pre-30 weeks, ie. pre-hell no I'm not sleeping on the ground! The fresh air and the laid back lifestyle sounded really good, though. And if you have other adults around with you, they are likely to chase an errant child for you! Out in the woods is a good place to be meditative about that new little being.
I never did go camping last summer, given my lack of driving skills and my workaholic-camping-hatin' DH. I did have fun at the beach at 35 weeks (with my sister), even though I could hardly sleep on those cheap guesthouse beds. I was easily irritated by the noise of the city, noise of Cliff constantly on the phone, the television... anything away from that was extremely attractive, sub-par sleeping conditions withstanding.
