No Sara.. she doesn't make house calls.. but she did come into her office.. less than 5 minutes away... on a Sat. That is more than you can expect from most other doctors. She said she didn't think I was passing a stone or I would be in even more pain (man that must suck) gave me some medicine I had run out of and tried to pick up Friday but she was unexpectedly closed for family reasons. Also so liver medicine.. hoping to avoid yellowness this time. Although I see a ting of yellow.. Levi say's no.. I am hoping I am seeing things. No uncontrollable itching like last time though so that is a good thing. Good thing it is spring break and I don't haveta run kids everywhere next week. I already feel a bit better than yesterday.. but still not well. bah. Anyway.. thanks for asking.

oh no, not again! I'm so glad she came in on a Saturday. And that you have spring break. Is this something that she expects to ever end? Anything you can do?

It was on at 6pm as well, and possibly 5pm. They made DHS look like total a**holes. I hope it does some good - apparently, Embers doesn't even know where the kids ARE. There has been no information at all.

Lee, whatever you do about the cat poop, you (and any pregnant person) should wear gloves if you are going to work the soil yourself. Toxoplasmosis=blech.

Is it just your cats? Keep them inside?

Our neighbors cats poop in our garden all the time. It's the only patch of tilled earth in the neighborhood. I don't think it effects the vegetables (as far as eating them goes), but someone please correct me if I'm wrong! I mostly just toss any poop into an unused corner when I come across it.

I'm mostly worried about them digging up the seeds.

Sandy is finally looking into a charter school for next year. The Arther Academy. I really don't get much from their website but a lot of techno-babble. Does anyone know anything about this school? Sigh.. I am just not sure that it is for us either.

Kieran's become a pleaser sometimes, it's quite odd. But the tradeoff is that we then have to come up with all the 'oh so cool' ideas to entertain... otherwise, he just jumps on us...

My husband wanted to clean out toys this weekend- odd cause there's plenty of junk here, but little of it is toys... he says 'put aside toys for 1yo and 4yo', so who is this mystery 1yo? Well if someone visits... huh??

His energy is insane recently (kid, not husband), but his days are rather random.

Geez, I didn't know Craigslist started charging people to post job opportunities. Bummer.

My sweetie wrote the KATU.com story :

Too bad the story didn't hit the news until the kids were already taken... He did his best to get their attention before it got to this point.

I just wrote a little blog about the monkey turning two!

Does anyone who gets deliveries from Organics to you have a problem with quality? I have oranges that were delivered on Friday covered in mold and tangerines that are shrunken and dried looking. I have also noticed broccoli and other stuff being VERY wilty in less than a week and I can buy that at a store and have it last a couple weeks in the fridge. Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem.

Yep, that's why we canceled. I'm not a big fan of organics to you. Or pioneer.

Thats too bad. I like the concept. I wonder if I should stick with it til Mother's Day and the farmers market opening or not. I wish New Seasons delivered here.

Sometimes, although last year we only had a few problem weeks. Most of the time quality was fantastic. It seems to matter how far away the fruit is travelling or how late in that harvest it is. For example, if one particular grower is almost fone with certain crop, the quality may be down a little.

I just chalk it up to what is normal when you are trying to support local/smaller farms. I see the same thing at the farmer's market as well.

I just adjust our weekly menu to accomodate things that need to be used right away whenever possible.

Yes... but if I see wilty broccoli at the farmers market.. I don't buy it. Also if a certain farmer's produce often goes bad in a short amount of time.. I wont buy from them anymore either. Mostly we only buy from Thompson's Farms.

Yep, this is why we quit using it years ago. And back then Organics to you weren't even local fruits/veggies, so I know ic ould get better quality at ns/natures.

oh my gosh i didn't know that was his story!!

here is what is on facebook for those of you who aren't there:

Please. This is actually important.

I know I already shared this link but I wanted to put a little more into it. This is possibly the most important thing you'll read today, not because of anything I've said but because there is an entire family whose lives are being destroyed and you might be able to help stop it.

Please

http://www.katu.com/news/local/41688642.html

This is a news story on KATU's website about a friend who has had her children/siblings literally kidnapped from school by DHS as a step to get them back into an abusive home they fled two years ago.

Just read the story and try to imagine if this were you. I know none of us knows where to start even thinking about how this can be made right but believing that knowledge is powerful we can at least not let this disappear.

I would love if just one of my friends would write an email to the Oregon and Virginia DHS expressing their disgust. I would love it more if we could make an effort to bring this to the attention of some people that might be able to do something about this.

http://blumenauer.house.gov/
This is Earl Blumenauer's Congressional Information page. He represents Oregon's third district, which includes Portland. Get on there and write him a letter, then write it again.

http://www.house.gov/wu/index.shtml
This is David Wu's. He's in Oregon's first district that has Beaverton etc, so he'd probably be interested since I believe the kids were taken from an address in his district.

merkley.senate.gov/contact/contact.cfm
This should put you in touch with Jeff Merkley, one of Oregon's two senators.

wyden.senate.gov/contact/
And this is Ron Wyden, who is the other.

I don't know where in Virginia the kids have been taken, personally, but I've also included information on contacting Virginia's senators.
warner.senate.gov/public/?p=EmailSenatorWarner
webb.senate.gov/contact/

PLEASE!

let me reiterate

PLEASE!

Take the time to write a letter to even just one of these people. Include a link to the story on KATU's website and let them read it for themselves then just ask to do the same thing I've asked all of you. Ask them to imagine if it were them and no one would even speak to them to tell them what possible course of action they could undertake. Ask them if they can live with that.

These kids were in a safe place with someone who truly, deeply loves them. Don't let that be taken away. This is probably the only chance these kids will ever have at being happy and growing into someone positive.

and a bunch of comments with ideas and links:
