PDX in March - Page 32

: my bestest best friend had her baby this past week and she is breastfeeding her with my guidance! With her son she didn't try, some stupid LC said her boobs were too small...pfft. Anyways, while I am not too happy with the LC she saw this time, atleast she is breastfeeding and taking my advice : I love her to death and it makes me feel so good I kinda was a role model to how she wants to parent her brand new baby girl

I my kitchenaid mixer. It made a double batch of cookies and I didn't have to stop halfway through to stir it by hand cause the mixer gave out.

Nope sorry, I never get birthday parties so ideas for adults' birthdays aren't my strong point.

Welcome... and of course you can jump in.

We have been REALLY REALLY REALLY slow lately though.. don't take it personally if responses come slowly.

No, you can say what part you live in.

Ok Sara, you do something to do with energy conservation or something like that. Please tell me how an electric water heater is more efficient than a gas one. Everyone I have ever know with an electric water heater spends an arm and a leg on the electric bills.

I'm really happy to have a gas water heater. Actually, I have 2 of them, and no furnance, since we use water to heat our home.

Jake is all better now, fever has been gone for almost 24 hours. So happy. And I was right about there being a developmental leap -- both with his language and with his desire to use the potty! : Yesterday I unexpectantly walked in on him in the bathroom pooping in the potty -- he had pulled down his pants and his diaper and was going. And he'll run to the potty if I suggest he needs to pee, instead of the constant NO! He'll only say no if he really doesn't have to pee. Time for underwear!

And I'll be in the double-digits of pregnancy tomorrow. Thank the goodness!

Oh, and welcome Jodi! You can say whatever you want as long as it is not a UA violation or a swear word

We threw a "Pretty Pretty Princess" party for my DH's 35th. Complete with big fluffly pink cake, pink feather boa, tiaras, big fake jewelry, etc. It was a surprise party.

He was a very good sport about it, let us take pics of him dressed up in the fluffy pinkness.

I need a bigger cast iron skillet. Mine is 10in diameter and it is really too small for our family.
So do I want one bigger in diameter or deeper?

I saw this at bimart for 40 some odd $ http://www.lodgemfg.com/Logic-fryers.asp

or this is this:

I didn't look at your links, but I'd prioritize diameter, personally.

Again, I didn't look at your link. It's odd, but I don't think I've ever looked at "what's more efficient, gas or electric water heaters?" It's always, what's the most eff. gas water heater you can get, what's the most eff. electric one... never a direct comparison. Prolly because I work with utilities, and telling someone that one was more efficient than the other would encourage fuel switching, which is a no no. So, generally, the eff of a water heater is determined by the level of insulation within it, because continously heating that stored water is the biggest energy suck. An electric or gas tankless heater eliminates that problem, and so is really the most efficient. If I was going to plunk money down on an expensive water heater, that's what I'd get (and I'd get electric because we don't have a gas line and because I can buy "green energy".)

Welcome! My husband and I are big on unconditional parenting, though also somewhat new to the concept having been raised by conditional families in a conditional society. We're in SE.
