W (the movie)

Dh and I just watched this on dvd last night (I know, we're a little behind). We both hated it. And not just because it was 2 hours about our least favorite person, but it was really badly filmed. There were out-of-place Bushisms and bad likenesses of cabinet members, like Condi Rice (what was that accent?). And when Oliver Stone isn't making you relive cringe-worthy press conferences that were bad enough the first time, the rest of the time he's speculating about Bush's personal life, not providing any interesting insights. I mean, did he really have a "daddy doesn't love me" complex? Is there any basis for that, or was it just a theme to keep the movie going? And James Cromwell is way too dignified to play Bush senior. Plus it was just boring. Ugh! Had to vent about two hours of my life I'll never get back. I could have been watching COPS instead!

My DH and I liked it, it was good for a few laughs. I did resent that I suddenly grew to feel sorry for him, but I got over it once I watched it with the commentary, and the extra features. Sorry you didn't like it!

I didn't hate it. The movie didn't weave the story together very well.

I could not stand Thandie Newton as Condoleezza Rice. I actually pulled youtube videos of Condoleezza up to prove that it was a terrible imitation of her.

We watched it last week.

You know, George W Bush is probably one of my LEAST favorite people in the world. But-man was that film heavy handed! I found myself fast forwarding through scenes I had no interest in watching, like the whole inituation proccess at Yale. I love James Cromwell as an actor, but I thought he was terribly miscast as Bush I. I hated the jumping back and forth between time periods-that was really clunky.

I could probably write a whole lot more-but I won't-I'll just say I was really disappointed in this film. Boo to Oliver Stone!

Seriously. What is up with her walking around with the hunchback?

DH and I just watched it the other day so don't feel bad. We did like it though. I felt it was woven together by themes rather than time line or even storyline if that makes sense. Though like a PP said I couldn't believe it actually made me feel sorry for him.

Loved Dreyfuss' Cheney.

I've never been impressed with Oliver Stone's work. We rented W because there was nothing else to rent & it was so bad we didn't finish it.

I hate movies that are about actual people that don't even pretend to tell an accurate story. This is true even if I don't like the person they are pretending to be about...same with the Nixon movie....hello making up key scenes just for dramatic effect=not ok with me.
