I am at a loss for words

Dh keeps asking me "well what was it like at home when you were 16/ 15?? " in relation to things with my teen

I looked at him and said "umm I was married, out of the house and on my own at 15/16 so I don't know..."""

He just looked/s at me and said "besides how stupid that was which we won't get into I can't come up with an example for this"

I really can't help him put things in perspective! Exdh and I were gone and living in another city where he was going ( harumph) to college...

while dh was still actually at home until 17 and living the "normal" teenage life of school, work, home....

Your children will be blessed by having two parents with such different perspectives! It must drive you crazy at times, but I think you'll give them a balanced outlook.

I wouldn't be able to answer this question. I was married at 14 and had DD at 15. I have been married to the same wonderful DH now for almost 15 years. I don't know how it is for most kids in their teen years. I just know how it was for me. Although I wouldn't recommend it to other. I would not change anything about the way my life has turned out. I thank god everyday for what I have.
I think I have learned alot now about teen age years though. I have a 14 year old DD. She has taught me alot.

Do you have any friends with teens older than yours?

I'm finding it very helpful having a neighbor with whom I am also friends who has a teenage son 2 years older than DS. When I describe something he's doing, most of the time she returns with a semi-comforting, "that's normal."
