Babywearing a preemie

Thread Starter
My sister's baby was born @ 30 weeks gestation a month ago; he's been discharged from the hospital now and is doing really well! He's 5 lbs now.:

I'm going to be taking her a wrap, and she has a ring sling. Because of his reflux, we're going to try an upright carry. She's very, very concerned about airway constriction. What do I need to know about wearing a preemie that is perhaps different than a full-term infant?

My DD was born at 31 weeks. She loves a ring sling!! I've never had to worry about her airway being constricted. An upright carry in her ring sling has worked great from day one. Also, I've used a baby bjorn a few times with her facing me and she liked that, but we both prefer the maya wrap. I can't think of anything unique to preemies that you would need to be careful of.

ditto what my fellow texan said (I'm a dallas native lol).
My daughter wasn't born quite that early- 36 wks- but the hospital staff recommended kangaroo care (http://www.mobywrap.com/t-instructio...garooCare.aspx) and such so I wore her in the moby w/o a shirt on and spread the moby out so I didn't feel topless, lol. She was just over 5 and a half lbs. She didn't like the ring sling but i didn't know how to do infant upright carries in it at first lol.
HTH good luck.
