Does any one know how to make...

As most of you ladies know, I'm making cloth diapers for my 6th baby. Wow it's actually really easy! But now that I'm into this making thing, I want to make my own power, lotions, and wipes. I've found how to make wipes (both cloth and paper towel version) but I can't seem to find the lotions and powers. Do any of you ladies know of any?

I made salve for my kids' bottoms; soak olive oil for a few weeks in a jar filled with suitable herbs (like comfrey and calendula and marshmallow and chickweed) then strain it off and place in a double boiler with beewax (rats- I totally cannot remember the proportions I used) and gently heat til the beeswax melts then pour into clean, widemouth jars (or old babyfood jars!) It will solidy when it reaches room temp but smooths easily onto your baby's bum. My kids never had diaper rashes- except when they ate citrus fruits (which happened about once each since they were the most nuclear rashes I ever saw)

I like to used dried herbs because that way you are much less likely to end up with mold problems- I never had any but have had a much shorter life on the salve using fresh herbs.

I will try to find the proportion of oil to wax and post it here- I think it was around three to one. Does anyone else have an idea?

Thanks I'll try that. When you say mold problem is that during the soakng method or when you store the salve? When you store it should it be in the refridge? How long does it last for? And silly question, but I'm really new...beeswax isn't that what you can use to make candles too? So if I put too much bees wax, will I end up making a candle? Hee, Hee! Just wondering..

Ok ladies after searching tons of places I've found at least three recipes it's on this really cool forum:
http://www.soapdishforum.com/phpBB2/index.php
Once you register you look up baby powder on the search and all these pages show up I think it was on the 3 page you'll see baby powder.... That message posted up some powder recipes. Whew! finding them was hard, but worth it. Because I found a cool site that also talks about homemade bath products.

I found tons of "Home Spa" book from the library! Thanks amillion!

Ooh- I've been meaning to look for home spa books at the library. I had an idea of having a "spa group" where you get a group of friends to meet once a month and draw a name to get a full on spa treatment, with everyone participating.

What kind of recipes are you finding in it? Something for you and not just the kids, I hope!

There's this book called "Blended Beauty" by Philip B. His intro is really interesting too! I love this book! Head to toe treatments. The other book is called "Natural Beauty at Home" by Janice Cox. This I must buy from e-bay/Amazon because there's so much information I want it for my library. I also got "The Herbal Home Spa" by Greta Breedlove. Nice book too.
The problem is I want to start making this for friends as gifts as well but want to add preservatives to make them last long enough to give and let them choose when to use. Any ideas?
PS LaLaLuna , I haven't forgotten about myself. I think I going to create a spa day just for me. I will ask my firend (who's a massage therapist) if she could give me a massage. I will give her one back (I'm also a massage therapist) when April 2004 comes out. Sound fair!
