Questions for you about vaccines, doctors, and meds :) - Page 2

I agree with PP's. This is unacceptable treatment. I hear that you live in a rural area, but personally id drive 2 hours if it meant having a doctor I trusted and who respected my parenting choices.

Get a copy of "how to raise a healthy child in spite of your doctor" and "raissng a vaccine free child".

We have been thorugh a few coughs where I wanted someone to listen to his chest...we went to his ND. I would never take DS to an MD for this because all they will do is prescribe drugs. The ND gave us natural remedies and good advice and DS was fine. Im sorry you are having to deal with this. I fired our first doc for similar reasons and have found a ped (suprising I know!) who is very laid back about not vaxing. She is from Russia so maybe they are mellower about it there...who knows

This has been exactly my experience.

I have been to the doctor when DS had croup. However, I was not comfortable with the treatment prescribed and in the end DS got better just fine without anything other than mama's milk, rest, cuddles and fresh air.

It sounds pretty rough and you are a very brave mama. (and sensible - not an idiot)

We don't do wbv's for our unvaxed 22 month old ds. And honestly I would not bother going to a clinic like the one you mention (except in an emergency...no other option etc). I would be suspect of their level of care from the get go. I understand how you want to have a parnership of respect with a medical professional, but the doc's at this practice are not going to provide that.

i hope you're able to find someone respectful, even if they disagree with you.

Albuterol is not a steroid, rather it's a beta-2 adrenergic agonist used to treat bronchospasm (narrowing/closing of the airways). Rarely, serious bronchospasm may result in closing of the airway, anoxia and rapid death (within minutes) if not treated (often with emergency trach).

first- thanks for the advice and info- especially about alb... whatever information like that is why i really want someone I can respect trust and turn to when I don't have the answers- because I don't have them all the doc gave me no info other than go get this- and not really a clear idea of why or how long/ often etc. my daughter like most 4 month olds doesn't care for being nubulizered and I'm not a fan of the fact it does make her twitch post- it's terrifying if you ask me.... she wasn't not functional when I brought her in- still able to breastfeed smiling playful and sleeping thur the night like usual- she was a bit fussier and clingier but you would be too if you had boogers for the first time in your life I was worried not about her but about the safety of other children she comes in contact with- the meds helped- but didn't really seem necessary- hence I'd love to call and say I'm not sure she needs this- but I don't feel comfortable doing that. so we stopped using it after a few days and she seems to be getting better on her own. time in the bathroom with a hot shower running pulls things up and that seems to be sufficient- but thanks to your post I'll be sure to keep an even closer eye on her.

distance isn't an issue with me when it comes to docs- I wanted a midwife and a waterbirth so for part of my pregnancy I flew across wa state and then drove two hours to see a midwife.... I'm a determined woman and I've seem great docs and awful docs- some are amazing and will change your life- others.... I wish we had a ND here... but since we don't have midwives I doubt we've got anything within hours- but I'll do some more looking- businesses in the middle of nowhere need to learn to have websites so you can find them

I don't really have family- or any like minded people locally (everyone I know is very traditional and thus doesn't have much to add beyond that they'd vax and use pampers and feed on a schedule etc- they think I'm crazy so even though I feel well researched and like I'm doing the right things I don't really have anyone to ask).... so I really do appreciate all your answers and support- it's nice to know I'm not the only one and that everyone else survived so I will too thanks for the book recommendation too it looks great- exactly the info I need

How about not doing WBV or at least modifying them. Like instead of every 2 months take her at 6 months then again at a year etc. There really is no reason to do them if you are not going to vax. Unless of course your dd has health issues you didnt mention.

If you modify the visits you will still be on record and having your dd seen without having to put up with BS every 2months.

I stopped all WBV when I stopped vaxing when ds was 4 months. The only time they go in is if they are sick or if dd has to have a physical for school once a year.
