Celebrity Apprentice? - Page 4

post #61 of 66
nak I honestly think that Joan won because Annie had figured out the game and donald was offended that it was so easy for her. he wanted to reward an old fashioned hollywood ceb for playing the game his way. he had totally made up his mind and just blew by the fact that joan caused the event planner to quit but acted like an a$$ when annie brought it up. No way anyone else could have gotten away with that!

I do think that professional poker players are playing a game of skill and not "gamblers" and that was a good point that Annie made.

What is up with everyone kissing Dennis Rodman's butt, especially Donald?! I think the way he acted towards Dennis and Clint (brown-nosing) vs. how he shot Jesse down for calling Dennis stupid just proves my point that Donald was playing favorites with the "real" celebs...oh, and the pretty girls too -- did he ever address Brande without saying how beautiful she is?? How insulting! It looked like she was kind of put off by that comment at the finale. It was basically cutting her off by saying 'nothing that comes out of your mouth is important, you're just a pretty face'. Blech!! And he seriously talked to Dennis like he was 5. 'I'm so proud of you, Dennis'. Ugh!!

Whether or not it takes skill to play poker does not negate the fact that they are gamblers. They are professional gamblers.

Definition of gambling..."Betting (wagering) that must result either in a gain or a loss. Gambling is neither risk taking in the sense of speculation (assumption of substantial short-term risk) nor investing (acquiring property or assets for securing long-term capital gains). It also differs from insurance which may reduce or eliminate the risk of loss but offers no legitimate chance of gain."

Unless she doesn't wager money when she plays poker...which I do believe she does... she is a gambler.

Being a professional poker player no doubt takes skill and intelligence. Heck, being a playboy bunny a la Brande takes certain skills as well. But neither of those are professions I would wish my children to aspire to. I think that if one was skilled in poker playing, that skill set could be translated into other legal fields. Just as a playboy bunny could chose to model or use her beauty in different ways as well.

But all states outlaw unauthorized gambling, defined as games with three elements:

1) A prize of value;
2) Consideration, meaning it costs something to play; and
3) An outcome determined predominantly by chance, not skill.

You can say that again. I think Annie outplayed her in every way. And the one criteria was the celebrities that you brought in. Um they gave that to Joan? Most of her "celebs" were impersonators. Annie won in my eyes. Plus I really wanted her charity to get that money. (not that there is anything wrong with Joans)

I totally agree with you, but Joan's celebs (the real ones, not the impersonators) were more 'recognizable'--aka Hollywood--than Annie's.

And I like how you phrased your last comment about her charity. Seinfeld, anyone?

Doh! I thought this was a newer thread.
