Lactation Consultant

I'm interested in becoming a lactation consultant, but I'm having a heck of a time finding information on it. I found a website listing different pathways, but it's unclear if these pathways are for everyone or if these pathways are suppose to take place after 4 years of college? Sooo, any lactation consultants out there who can share there journey?

check with your local breastfeding support group maybe? mine is sponsoring a lactation counselor course....less involved than a lactation consultant but a good stepping stone
