how often to bathe toddler

We are living in a dry, freezing climate and so our skin gets really dry. I make a very effective, chemical free lotion for us. However, I heard that the less often you wash your hair the less oily it will be and the healthier it will be. From this it lead to, the less often you wash your body the better it can self regulate, esp the skin flora. I am thinking that perhaps washing my toddler with soap every night may be bad for his skin. Is this accurate?

As a side note, I have very oily, acne prone skin. I think the hygiene regime I use for it may actually perpetuate my acne. Has anyone else found this to be true? If so, how did you get through the transition to healthier skin care practices? If I suddenly were to wash with a mild soap and maybe do a honey mask occiasionally, I would look like Quasimoto for about 2-3 months.

my toddler gets a bath every 2 days. I don't actually wash her body with soap unless she is physically dirty. I put 2 drops of Aura Cacia Baby Lavender Shampoo/body wash in the tub to foam up. I wash her hair every 2-4 days depending on how greasy it is. I use conditioner on her hair too. She has crazy hair though, and I've tried the no poo thing on her and it makes her worse. But as far as her body goes, we all have dry skin on our bodies in the winter and we only use soap or body wash sparingly or not at all and then of course body lotion afterwards.

DS gets a bath every 2 or 3 days depending on how dirty he is. He has dry skin, just like his mama, and I've found the less we bathe, the better his skin is. We've also been using Vasoline immediately after bath time on the areas that his skin is dry and that seems to be working as well.

As far as soap/shampoo that we use, I've been using Huggies Clean Team Moisturizing Body Wash & Paul Mitchell Kids Shampoo (and use for bubble bath, too). The shampoo scent is amazing.

I have only been bathing my 18 month old 1-2 times a week. I use cloth diaper wipes and so I will grab one out of the box and spritz some diluted Dr. Bronners on it if I think he needs a freshen-up in between baths. It has just been too cold and he isn't really getting "dirty" all that much. We do wash his hands and face in the morning and evening every day.

My dd (18 months) gets a bath 2-3 times a week. I use a little unscented soap on her underarms, bum, feet, but other than that I just use warm water. I never shampoo her hair as it dries it right out, but I do condition it when she gets a bath. Her hair isn't greasy at all. I use an organic homemade conditioner my mom's friend makes. I wash her hands with mild soap as needed and wash her face with water as needed. Her diaper area gets cleaned at every change.
