But the new job should be interesting. I've never worked an office job before. They're sending me to SoCal this spring; I'm using airline miles to take DH and DS along. Hence you having an order for a swim diaper.

: Not even close. It's warm enough to snow today. I'm taking that as a sign of spring.

Higgens? up by the pizza hut across the street from West Valley / Hutchinson. In the little strip mall.

Anyway, they were really nice. The whole staff was friendly and great with kids and adults that were "nervous" about going to the dentist.
OH thanks! I'll look him up tomorrow.

hows is the ash-ness down there?
My bro said that ash hadn't yet fallen in Anchorage, which I took as a good sign. We've been planning on going back down there to introduce Camilla to my bro & friends, but now we're postponing our trip until the bulk of the ash has cleared.

We went to Bonkers indoor playground (907-457-PLAY, 1951 Fox Ave, Fbx) last Friday with onyxravnos & her little one -- we had so much fun! Molly, we're coming back this Friday -- wanna meet us there again? You all should take your little ones there as it's such a great alternative to the golden arches until the sun makes all the snow and ice go away!

I see no ash in Anchorage.

Anyway... update. Isaac is walking (figured it out at 9 1/2 mos, the little turd ). I got our village set up as a drop-off site for Full Circle Farm produce, so we get fresh, organic veggies every week... I feel like our quality of life has increased. DH is back to being a SAHD because our babysitter had a seizure and is now back in TN. We're goign to be moving into Bethel for next school year, because I was offered a job at the District Office. I guess we're done with the village-teacher life, for now at least. Ummm... what else... I don't know. My life isn't that exciting, really.

How the heck are you ladies? I see some new names... hi!
Great news on the Job!
Are you all excited about the big move??

Boy you got your hands full!!! Great job baby! Whoo Hoo

We're supposed to get our Full Circle Farm boxes today, but nothing's flying in this direction. *off to cry in the corner*

uhoh.. and is this your first order?
No, we've had boxes for the past few months. I've just gotten used to a nice, stable supply of fresh organic produce.

(and free, to boot, since i'm the site host )

Though supposedly planes might be flying this way out of ANC now... so maybe tomorrow.
There may be planes flying now. There is no ashfall warning, so it is quite possible they are trying to let go through what they can. From what I understand, there may be more activity from Redoubt, but it seems rather silly to put everything on hold until it is all quiet again. I heard or read somewhere that the eruptions could go off and on for several months.

fishing for experiences with Anchorage optional schools

Hi there...

Wondering if anyone here has experience with / opinions on a few of the optional school programs here in Anchorage. In particular.. Denali Montessori, Polaris K-12, Susitna Optional and Winterberry.

Negatives just as interesting as the positives!

Thanks for your help. Posts and/or PMs are very welcome.
Just curious why not Aquarian?

I think you just need to visit the schools & tour a couple of times. They have very distinct personalities. (I dont' know Susitna, though.) And, they're only for certain kids; ie. I have one who would thrive at Polaris & 1 who would not. Visit. Go to some family nights. Check out how the halls sound & the parents act.
Thanks. We've done the visiting but thought asking around for parent opinions would be helpful as well.

Aquarian's principal said they had a waiting list of over 300 before the lottery even started; we are now #120. In their annual report they claim having a waiting list longer than actual enrollment is a good thing; instead I think it indicates a large unmet need...
