The thing that is so funny is that I found out on wednesday, and we hadn't decided yet when to start telling people (thinking it'd be a week or two probably...) but then on thursday morning a friend joined a facebook group "I love/loved being pregnant" and I saw the notice and joined it too (which I would have done regardless) and people started interpreting it as an announcement, even though it was NOT meant that way! Someone asked Hubby about it and Hubby figured I must have said something so he affirmed, so whoops, cat's out of the bag that the bun's in the oven!

I should stay off facebook.

Big Congrats all around!!!!

With babies being born and babies being conceived and my youngest potty training this summer, it kind of makes me want another. Too bad DH is NOT on board for that.

Dp and I took the boys to see the start of the Iditarod yesterday.. here's how it went EVERY time a team went by..

10yo: "booties! Booties"
5yo: "Booties! Booties!"
4yo: "BOOBIES! BOOBIES!"

I nearly fell over in the snow bank I was laughing so hard.

Ah, kids!

we watched some too! We did not stay for all 68 teams though. where were you at? We found a kick booty spot at the Alaska Native Health center. I was able to park about 5 feet from the course so my MIL could watch from the car.
The kids and I got a spot outside under the Horizon banner and had a front row view of the teams. It was really awesome! Been in Alaska 13 years and this was my first time.

I had no idea today was DLST! good thing it is a SUNDAY!

Last year we were early to church because of DLST.. it really messed us up, but we weren't planning on going today.. good thing too because we would have been caught off guard about it just like last year..

We were downtown near the graveyard. We were feet from the track.. it was a pretty great spot, too. Dp packed up the lawn chairs and I cuddled in my fuzzy blanket..

I used to live in one of the villages on the route though, so although I haven't seen the start before, the teams are old hat to me.

Congrats Crystal on your little girl and Jenni on your little bean!

My eldest is Aurora. We named her while living in Indiana and the 'unusual' name we had there was not so unusual here. She actually has another Aurora in her class, and there are about 4? total in her school, plus another we know from our local AP group. Regardless, we love the name (and the kid ) as it has lots of meaning to us.

So I totally missed the feb thread due to life with a babe, and honestly tons of time on the babywearer. Although we used a sling with both the first two, I'm really having fun with babywearing this time... ah for an endless paypal account, lol.

Have you checked out some of the slings at sugar and spice in the university center?

Do NOT go there.. nope. never.

Congratulations Crystal!

Oh if you missed Feb. you missed that I got to handle on the Yukon Quest. It was quite an adventure, which I will write more about once I get over this nasty cold.

So awesome re the Yukon Quest! Impressive watching the dogs in Anch this weekend. They had some kind of presentation at Westchester Lagoon today--lots of dogs & handlers.

Anyone ski the Tour today? It was GORGEOUS out! What a lucky & absolutely stunning day to ski a very long distance

We've found a job listing that we're considering (he hasn't applied yet but we plan to...don't know yet what other options might be but we kinda like some aspects of this one...) Anyway, if you can offer any helpful advice about this area we'd appreciate it!!

The restart was so fun! Went with a bunch of friends and hung out close to the end of the shoot. Brought a tent for the kids, had a small fire, and enjoyed smores and wine while cheering and high-fiving the mushers as they went by.

So, i've been thinking about prenatal care...my intent is to deliver at a birth center in the anchorage area...we don't know yet exactly where we'll be living, but I have heard there are two (three?) birth centers there, and I suspect they are all more or less in the big city, yes? So I'd be commuting in to them regardless of where I live?
I'm thinking about doing UP until we get there (I'll be around 25wks) but I want to make contact with them now to see what they feel comfortable with (ie, should I find a provider sooner, transfer all my stuff around multiple times, etc)...here's the thread http://www.mothering.com/discussions....php?t=1053386 Anyway, I think I need to talk with my final provider before I decide for sure what to do (ie, would they risk me out if I was UP before seeing them), SO, I'm needing to choose a provider up there without having the advantage of actually being there.
Can you make recommendations? I posted a thread here http://www.mothering.com/discussions...php?p=13339421

Sorry no recommendations on the delivery front.. I want to do a homebirth this time.. and I went to the doctor today to get my "gadget" removed (which, by the way, was WAY easier than I had feared), so I am starting my charting stuff.. by the time I am looking for a provider, I am sure you will already have found one!
