Looking for Recommendations for Dairy Free Probiotics. I'm nursing a little one who is very sensitive to dairy. Thought maybe I'd hear about some I haven't heard of.

Thanks! Elizabeth

I'm working on a list to add to the 'supplements' thread, but I'm not quite done... I'll post a rough draft!

From that list above I use Kirkman with no issues, we are dairy/soy free.

Thanks!
I'm interested in hearing others recommendations on what they've actually tried and liked. In the past I've tried so many kinds and spent $ so I'm hoping to save some time/$ this time around by finding one with good results right away, ykwim.
A bummer I can't use the one I had been taking, with good results, it's not dairy free. :

Search mothering for dairy free probiotics to get more personal experience stories. Here are a couple links:

I have heard the 'Pharmax' brand recommended a lot - there is a link in the first link I posted for $5 off. I know there are more threads out there too. HTH!

Thanks for letting me know! I will update my list - I'm hoping to add others' experiences there too, but it's kind of overwhelming! Which ones have you used?

I know you are asking about supps specifically, but really, I'd recommend probiotic food, like real saur kraut. My "doc" said a TBLS per day of the juice. I love the stuff.

really? 1 tablespoon of the saurkraut juice a day gives all the probiotic benefits? cool!

I recently ordered UAS probiotics for my son, I haven't gotten them yet so I don't know how he'll react to them, but they are dairy-free and corn-free (a big one for us). They do have two ingredients derived from chicory root and rice in them, when I called the company to ask about their ingredients they transfered me to the "doctor" who is the head of their company and they asked me if I wanted more info on their products, I said sure, and a few days later I received an actual book in the mail about probiotics. There is a lot of interesting info in there- I really appreciated their customer service, but even more so they are corn-free, wow!

Wugmama- Yes, I love fermented foods. I have another thread about it (on TF forum) about buying it already made as I haven't made any for a bit (having a newborn slows you down...at least me). I want to give my body a big dose of probiotics in many forms both dd and I need it!

pedi08- I know you like Kirkman. You haven't had any negative reacts b/c of dairy free but have you seen any noticeable positive differences? Like I mentioned before, I saw positive difference with a diary one both ds and I were using ( I can't know b/c of dd dairy allergy) but not with the variety of dairy free ones prior to that. Granted ds was a lot older when I tried the Culturelle with him and he didn't react to the dairy in it so maybe his system was better off than early when we did dairy free. However, after reading Probiotics Revolution, is when I decided to try the Culturelle because of the clinical studies backing it up. So, it could be that Culturelle is just the bomb, so to speak. It's so hard to tell for sure.

kornter- Let me check to see what the names are of the ones I used from Natren. I'm forgetting right now.

franklin907- I'd love to hear what you think about them when you start using them and when you are using them longer term. Keep us updated.

I recently started using Custom Probiotics (six strains powder). I also use their yogurt starter. I was using Kirkman Labs before but I think DD reacted to the FOS/inulin (I just noticed that they now have a version without FOS/inulin - that must be new). When I first started taking the Custom Probiotics powder, it seemed to aggravate DD's symptoms but I called and they told me because their probiotics are so much more concentrated than others we have used to start with a lower dose and then move up. So I did that and I am now up to the full dose and DD has significantly improved. We also did CST and are doing homeopathy so I can't say which specifically helped, but I am very happy with it.
