So how are all the PostPartum mamas doing ? - Page 3

We're just 5 days PP here, so things are still going pretty slow. The bleeding is sometimes pretty light, others pretty heavy... depends on how much I've been doing. My butt has been very sore, my guess the back labor didn't help that. I could feel her pressing on my tailbone all the way out, so that's been pretty sore. Today feels a little better though. I don't wince everytime I need to stand up.

Stitches haven't hurt at all, I just felt them tug a little that first day. However, the skidmark I got on top stings like hell when I pee. Makes me very thankful for my peri bottle. Today is my first day without the Tucks pads. I ran out, but am doing okay without them. My milk has definitely come in full force, I feel like Dolly Parton. So far, they're only achy though when it's time to eat.

8 days pp here. i had my little guy via c-section and the recovery from that has been so intense. i had some majorly tearful days earlier in the week but i think it is evening out now. i am having trouble eating though - all my carefully planned freezer meals are untouched because everything makes me nauseous. is this from all the drugs they gave me in the hospital? it is exhausting. i'm exclusively breastfeeding too so its hard to keep my energy up when i have so much trouble eating.

my baby is so great and my partner helps out a TON. i am afraid of the day he has to go back to work but luckily that won't be for a week or two. i'm just so sore and tender, i wish things at birth could have gone differently.

maybe i'll try the 5-htp that was suggested earlier.

Well today was better. I got my house cleaned when ds was at preschool. It's colder today so my basement has taken a break from flooding. Lifting sopping wet towels is hard after a cesarean ugh! Ds is currently napping Yay!!! Hasn't happened all week so this is great. I might pay for it tonight though.
Having a hard time getting Delia to nap though. She gets fussy and overtired and I swaddle her and give her the pacifier, pat and shush and she just keeps waking up and spitting out the paci and then getting mad that it's gone lol. She was up for probably 10 hrs yesterday. She had 2 short little naps and didn't go to sleep until 11pm. She was so fussy.
Where is the baby's head supposed to be when in the sling in relation to my body? I followed the instructions but this key piece of info is missing.
My snap & go should arrive any day now and then I can get out and about again. Woohoo

I developed what is either cellulitis or staff in the area below my belly button. It's painful and hard and makes everything miserable. The anitbiotics aren't doing what they should - and they are giving the baby diarrhea. I have to go back to the dr's on friday. I'm having trouble pee'ing and... having bm's too. The whole system seems to be screwed up and the doctor doesn't have any clue why that would be. The meds he put me on for the pee'ing thing haven't solved the problem. I can't pee without my peri bottle most of the time. I am afraid I'm going to become reliant on suppositories for the rest of my life too.

I'm feeling pretty depressed this morning. Dd is watching too much tv and my house is a huge wreck and I feel like crap/ In the back of my head all I can think is that it wasn't suppose to be like this. I am so angry that I have to go through a recovery this difficult.

The baby is doing fine. He eats a lot which is kind of frustrating because instead of eating for 40 minutes every two hours, he wants to eat for 10 minutes and then take a 15 minutes break and then eat again. I feel like I am constantly having to feed him and my nipples hurt.

Sorry this is such a downer post. I know it will all pass soon, but in the meantime, I just need to vent sometimes.

Hugs, is the staff on your incision ? I occasionally have yeast issues on my incision. Lots of c/s mamas have it too.

Hi everyone - it is nice to read that others are going through some of the same things... my online life has also been curtailed. So this might be long but I haven't been here in so long! She will be four weeks old tomorrow!

I got another "high maintenance" baby, although she is not as bad as her colicky sister was, she keeps me seriously busy bouncing on the exercise ball and running the vacuum cleaner to keep her happy. Thank goodness for slings but my back is sore! I finally got a swing so I can put her down for a little while here and there, though she still wakes up pretty quickly after I put her in it.

Seriously, having been through colic before I was heartbroken when this one started being "fussy" and let me tell you with my first I tried everything under the sun and NOTHING worked - but let me recommend the goofy sounding but awesome book/video "The Happiest Baby On the Block" his techniques are great and SUPER helpful.

I refuse to do an elimination diet this time, since it didn't help before. It sucked eating plain white rice for a week while serving regular food to my family and being SO hungry from all the lactating I almost lost my mind. It did not help my baby's colic. The lactation consultant also said that elimination diets only solved a small percentage of colic issues and because my girl has normal poops she didn't recommend it. I do have issues with overproduction/overactive letdown so that has been part of the problem - we're getting that under control somewhat finally. I can't wait for breastfeeding to be easy.

As for doing the deed, I am starting to feel ready but going to wait for the go ahead after six weeks because I had a couple stitches this time. I never had any before and it makes me a little nervous. I have been having dreams about it... and I miss the intimacy with my hubby.

Lots of poops here too still.

How in the world have I gotten so lucky? I'm knocking on wood everyday. She will only be a week old tomorrow, so I keep it in the back of my mind that things could change anytime. She nurses wonderfully... my only problem is in the evening when she nurses for 20 min. Then wants a snack an hour later to fall asleep. That's not really a problem, it just confuses me about which boob I should start on the next time...

Went to the dr. and she's already up 2 oz from her birth weight. She weighed 7 lbs. 3 oz at birth, 6 lbs 11 oz when we left the hospital and yesterday she was 7 lbs 5 oz.

She goes 3, sometimes 4 hour stretches between meals. She hiccups a lot, but they don't bother her. We sleep around 8 hours a night, in 3 hour increments. She is just SUCH a good baby!

Bleeding has turned into like a light period, no cramps. A little achiness in my bottom still. I'm not even engorged anymore. She is so regular with her eating, I was only engorged for about a day and a half. I feel so spoiled with her!

My babies have/had normal poops, too. I am a big believer in elimination diets. If just elimination doesn't work, then I would suggest going on a diet like the GAPS diet. Colic and reflux problems in infants are more than an inconvenience, they can be a precursor to later health problems like ADD, excema, possible Asperger's/autism, asthma, depression/mood and/or behavioral problems, and allergies. Colic and reflux are a sign of digestive imblance, and the gut is the seat of health, especially brain health. GAPS (Gut and Psychology Syndrome-- the connection between gut health and brain/psychological health) is, sadly, still poorly understood and largely unheard of by most medical professionals from lactation consultants to doctors. I am very fortunate that my doctor is familiar with it.

I don't know why you would be eating plain white rice???? For one thing, white rice is pretty much devoid of nutrients, so it will upset YOUR gut health which will continue to throw off your baby's gut health. A small amount is probably fine unless there are serious problems but eating a lot of white rice could sabotage your elimination diet right there. Even if you are eating brown rice, you should still be aware that, though rarer, rice is one of the foods which some babies respond negatively to. My oldest son cannot tolerate rice; when we give him rice products it keeps him awake at night screaming and crying.

Also, if an elimination diet is not working, definitely cut out all sugar and corn syrup. Use natural honey instead. That should make a huge difference.

As far as an elimination diet being difficult for you to follow, it is inconvenient, however if it is TOO difficult to do and you feel you are starving yourself and having horrible cravings than I again emphasise that this is a sign of an imbalance in you. The book The Mood Cure and The Diet Cure list supplements that will help you overcome cravings for foods like refined foods and starchy or sweet foods. They really work, I know, I have to sue them. For me, sweets and starchy foods are like drugs (really). When I cut them out of my diet (and they really should never be in my diet, knowing how I am) I get withdrawal symptoms. The supplements really help.

The great thing about finding a diet that works well for you and the baby, is that you WILL be improving your own health. Absolutely. And you can keep that glowing good health even after your baby has moved on from breastmilk.

Ok so my bleeding returned after being done for about 3 days after being light for about a week. I woke up to like a medium flow. What's up with that? My incision kind of aches again too.
Baby was up most of last night screaming. I had red jello do you think the dye can affect her?

Anyone else ever had a child with this? It's not epilepsy and she will outgrow it but it sure made me nervous at first.

I have been battling headaches, myself. For me, I notice I am tensed up a lot and do not notice immediately, and I have had trouble staying hydrated. Those two things, I think, are the reason for my headaches.

My little guy has times like your terrible nights; his are related to guy issues. Acidophilus for him has helped. And sleeping on my back, with him belly-to-belly with me, on top.

Hope it works out quickly.

No. That must have been scary. I'm glad she's fine.
