About Bum Genius ...

When did your lo grow out of the Bum Genius (3.0) diapers? I know that the website says it fits to 35 lbs but I don't think that they will actually fit my ds for that long. So I'm curious, did they fit your lo til 35 lbs or did you have to switch to a different diapering system?

My ds is about 26 lbs now, and they fit just right. I can't imagine they'll fit until 35#... We'll see.

Sara potty learned right around that size and they fit fine with room to spare. I've heard that chunky babies seem right about to outgrow them for a little while and then when they slim down and stop growing so fast, they just maintain. We used them for about a year from 2 1/2 until 3 1/2 and she was pretty average-sized. I think she was 34lbs when she finally stopped needing them. We did need different diapers for bedtime though because they didn't fit right double stuffed for nighttime. Gaps and leaks int he thigh area. But I just got 2 prefolds and a thirsties cover and a pair of recycled wool pants and stuffd the prefolds with her baby sister's infant prefolds and we were fine. The bumgenius worked great under jeans!

DS is 29 pounds and still have room to grow in our BGs. I can see them fitting him for a few more pounds at least.

that's about how big my 23 month old is. They fit good, but depending on how he grows, they won't fit him for that much longer. That said, my toddlers tend to thin out and get taller, so it may fit him for a while. hard to say.

They definitely do not fit my 4 yo. I'd say he's about 37-38 lbs, I've tried at night and the velcro doesn't stretch and the rise is really low.

My son is almost 2.5 and over 30lbs. He has always been slender, but not tiny. The BGs still fit, but not for nighttime b/c they are big enough for a doubler and he opens the velcro.

It depends on the body shape, I'd guess. I've tried mine on my 40 lb almost four year old and they fit. I don't think she could run and play in them, but they'd work for nighttime.

this is what I was thinking sagemomma. Ds is 17 months and weighs 24 ish lbs. I think I'll have to look into some different brands

I think 35 lb is pretty accurate.

I think somewhere in the 30-35 pound range is an accurate guess for most kids, depending on body type.

DS1 potty-learned shortly after his 3rd birthday, at about 33 lbs, and they still fit just fine. I think the diapers being a wee bit tight is a little bit of incentive to move into the more comfortable, freeing underwear!

Anyway, I think their One Size 8-35 lbs scale is inaccurate on the low end, in that it's tough to get a little newborn into that huge diaper. But I think the 35 lb high end is a fair estimate.

YOu know I think it is more of a rise issue than a weight one. My ds is 24lbs and there is NO way they fit him. I have happy heiny os (they are a much higher rise and have 4 rise adjustments) and they fit him with lots of room to grow.... just a thought
