Where to put my bed?

This is a little more involved then just putting my bed in our room. My bed is taller then the ceiling. My DH is going to put empty recessed light cans into the ceiling where the bed posts are. This means we never move the bed again in the room. As it is I am sorry to be putting holes into a 200 year old plaster ceiling, but at least that is repairable. My antique bed is not. I apologize in advance but I will try to describe my choices the best I can. Due to windows and so forth these are the only choices. Thanks for any thoughts!

1. One wall has a fireplace and paneling and a door in the paneling. Through the door is the stair landing and then the kids room. Basically the bed would sit between the fireplace and the doorway. The room is slightly narrower then wide and the bed would stick into the room. To get from the bathroom to the door to the stairway would involve walking around two and a half sides of the bed. This is not my favorite choice.

2. Opposite of above. Foot of bed would stick into the room and slow the flow through the room but not as badly because doors are on and closer to fireplace wall. More of a bump in the flow. Feet would be towards fireplace. (fireplace we hope to have useable someday) Head of the bed would be on an outside wall. Window would be right next to DH's head and over his bedside table. Window in question has a breeze, though DH tends to be too warm. I would have about 2 feet between my side of the bed and the side wall. This would make the bed more a central part of the room - literally.

3. This option would put the bed on the wall with the bathroom door. Bathroom door would have to be removed or rehung on other side (there is room in the bathroom). I would have maybe 1 foot between my side of the bed and outside wall. Head of bead would be against bathroom wall. Bed would not block any flow traffic through room. Best view of the tv :

I hope I'm picturing your room right - but from what I read, I would put the bed with your feet facing the door. I've read in a number of places that that is the "ideal" way to organize a bedroom, and I intuitively agree (from my experience). Also, I would rather have 2' than 1' between your side and the wall. I would avoid putting it on the fireplace wall, because it does seem painful to have to walk all the way around the bed to get to the bathroom.

How is it arranged now? Can you put another bed or just the mattresses in there for a while to see how you like it best?
