3 yo is starting to wean

I think my DS is actually starting to wean. For a while now... months, he has not wanted or needed to nurse when he's hurt or sad. I will ask if he wants milkies and he says no and then just snuggles up with me. But he has always clung to his first thing in the morning, first thing after I get off work, and last thing before bed milkies. And now, I am pregnant... he's still been nursing and it's been hurting so badly. Yesterday, though, he didn't ask to nurse in the morning and then I left to have breakfast with a friend. He spent half the day at the beach with DH and when they got home, he was asleep... carried to bed to nap and then when he woke, he did nurse. But last night at bedtime, he just snuggled up and didn't mention wanting to nurse. And this morning, he didn't ask to nurse... and hasn't yet today.

So, I know, it's just one day... but I feel good about this. I think being pregnant has made me weary and tired of nursing, but I do feel that if he weans soon, we've had a really good run. I never thought I'd be able to make it this far since I have worked full time, but I've worked hard at it and when I went through my occasional phase where I was sick of nursing, I would always come here for encouragement. It really helped.

I can't believe we've made it almost 3.5 years. I'm so glad we did this but I think we're both ready to start letting it go. Just needed to get this off my chest... my real life friends would not understand.

Great job!!!

How wonderful that you nourished you ds this long.
Sure wish I had some real life friends that were AP too.
At least there are some here.

Again, :
