Friend's 5yo has large red spot on leg after shots...

My friend's dd got some vax at her 5 yr check up and has a large red spot at the injection site. I am not sure exactly what she got, I think it was chicken pox and Dtap. (friend doesn't even know what she got)

Her doc said it is 'normal' and was surprised that the child was not complaining of pain, fever, or any other sypmtoms besides the slightly tender large red spot. I am curious if this has happened to anyone here and what came of it. My computer crashed a few weeks ago and I lost all my links/research on vax, so I am starting from scratch again.

Is there anything she can do to help minimize the redness? Do you think she should avoid these particular vaccines in the future?

Thanks mamas!

I think redness and tenderness at the injection site is a very common effect. Docs say it is normal..IMO any reaction is stilla reaction. The body is trying to tell you something.

I have read of lumps at the injection site that have lasted for months
