Major Brown Spotting *Update Post 67* - Page 5

I just read all of this today. I am sorry that you are having to go through this. I will keep you in my thoughts. I am glad that you at least have some answers and your doctor knows what is going on. Please keep us informed.

Hoping your SCH resolves itself very soon.

I'm not going to say "relax" because it's soooo hard to do when one has stuff going on. I'll say, I'm wishing for the best outcome.

Thinking of you and sending positive vibes your way

On a positive note, My SIL has a SCH that they discovered at around 8 weeks. She has had on/off bleeding since then (and has been on/off bed rest) as the bleed is of moderate size and has not yet resolved. Good news is that she is now 25 weeks and everything else looks great! My understanding is that most women with these go on to have healthy babes.

Kick those legs up girl and relax if you can!!!

Tracy (still lurking, at least for a few more days )

Thanks tracy. How scary for your SIL...I know the risks of it staying around is placental abruption...that's terrifying to think about!

I haven't had anymore spotting since about 6-7 weeks...I'm hoping it cleared up. I go back to the OB on April 15, so I guess they'll do a rescan to check it then. : Hoping it's gone!!!

And I wish I could rest and put my feet up! This weekend we did our annual spring yard cleanup...no resting here! :

It was BEAUTIFUL weather and I wanted to get it done before it started heating up here. : Plus, I don't think we've done any cleanup since Hurricane Ike hit us (Sept.)!

I just read through this whole thread.. I had a streak of blood this morning in my CM after a BM. And I have a bloated heavy feeling. No cramps and no more bleeding. My temp is still high and cervix is hard. But I'm so worried of another miscarriage. uugh. I hate this!! I am just 6 weeks tomorrow.

I'm glad baby is doing good ShwarmaQueen! I hope my spot of blood turns out to be nothing too..

I feel so depressed now

That's scary. Was it just a little? What color? If it was light and didn't repeat, try not to worry too much. Are you planning on any u/s? I know you're planning UC, but maybe you can have a quick scan to make sure everything is ok? Or you could wait and see if it repeats... I hope it stops mamma!

From my understanding, this is basically a blood clot between the placenta and the uterus. Anyhoo, this was the cause of my spotting (which I've not had in a couple weeks). The rate of m/c is significantly higher than a normal pregnancy, but it is lower the earlier it is diagnosed and lower the younger the mamma is. It could resolve itself, but could also stay for the whole 9 months...I hope this doesn't mean I can't switch to a MW!
I have one too...lurking from the August board. Mine isn't near the placenta luckily; I'm sorry yours is. That's really rough to go through. I was diagnosed with it at 13 wks and am now 20 wks. I've had bleeding/cramping on and off this whole time.
My midwife told me it wasn't a big deal...she said homebirth is still fine, except that the risk of preterm labor is much higher if you are still bleeding after 20 weeks. Let's hope that yours heals soon and you can have a homebirth/midwife if you want. Feel free to PM me if you need support; I've noticed there aren't many posts on Mothering about SCH. I have found a great support group on BabyCenter with about 125 members who have them. It's helpful to read the success stories. Many people have healthy children after going through this. I've been on and off bedrest, tons of cramp bark for the cramps, etc, and taking precautions has really helped. Good luck!

Anyone had really scant light brown "spotting" (if you can call it that?)? I wipe and get some on the tissue and sometimes it is almost creamy like normal discharge, but sometimes it is just streaky brown bits. No red or pink. No cramping, but sometimes some pinches/"streaks" of pain down my lower abdomen.

Anyone?

I really think it's probably nothing to freak out about, but I can't help but worry worry worry. Should I just call the nurse and see what she says?

Sounds like my symptoms. Hopefully yours is nothing. I would go ahead and call if I were you!

it has turned into a brown/pinking discharge about every 12 hrs and small spots in between. I don't want to spend the $ for an ultrasound if I can stand it. I will probably try to get into see a midwife and get my hcg levels checked to see if we have an answer. I don't have any cramping at this point so thats good. It is scary.

Are you still spotting? Has the subchorionic hemmorage cleared up or are you still waiting to find out?

I had a moderate iszed one w/dd. was on/off bedrest till 16w when it mostly resolved.

Scary!

No, I haven't had any more spotting since week 7. I'm hoping it's gone away...my final ( OB visit on 4/15 is to check to see if it's gone. I mentioned it to the mw I'm switching to and she didn't seem concerned.

I just got back from an OB appointment. (We're seeing an OB for backup) and had an early u/s that showed a "small subchorionic bleed" she basically described it as trapped blood behind the sac and acted like it was nothing to be concerned over. I'm very nervous about placental abruption since a very good friend lost her baby because of one recently.

I really regret having the u/s now. I'm 7w2d and now have something new to worry about. *sigh*

I'm sorry you are in the same situation. But, I wouldn't regret going if I were you. I'd much rather know to go easy and avoid rigorous activities. And from what I understand the risks involved with SCH are way greater the bigger they are. What does your MW say? Mine said she'd had previous mammas with them and they didn't cause any problems.
The doctor didn't tell me to restrict activity or change anything...She said they see them frequently because of the early ultrasound they give to all patients. They didn't tell me what size mine was only that it was "small" the u/s tech actually labeled it on the u/s and wote "small subchorionic bleed" I asked if it involved the placenta and she said somethng about it being near the sac and that it was no big deal.

My midwife isn't a big fan of u/s, especially not in early pregnancy. She reccommended that I take it easy but not really restrict much activity, to keep eating healthy, focus on the positives and have faith. I don't think she has much experience with this since most of her patients don't have outside care.

I wrote out this really long reply, and then somehow managed to close the window. *sigh* Take 2

I also have a scb. The ultrasound tech was really lovely and spent some time explaining and reassuring me. She worked for many years at a practice that did 6 week ultrasounds on every single client, and she said from what she observed that a large percentage of women actually have small scb in early pregnancy that almost always resolved itself in a few weeks. Before 6 weeks ultrasounds were common, the ones that did show up tended to be the more serious ones and the ones that developed later on and were seen in 20 weeks ultrasounds. She said that when you think about what is going on inside your body as a pregnancy begins that it's no wonder that small bleeds occur and that so early in pregnancy it's just really not that big of a deal, just something to be aware of. Anyway, she had to really search for mine (I was having the scan due to bleeding) and when she finally found it she said it was pretty much almost resolved and was very tiny (a little less than 2 cm).

So, for the meantime I am trying really hard to take things easy and not do any heavy lifting, etc. (Ha! Soooo easy to accomplish with two young children that want to be lifted up and carted around!)

My guess is that it really is nothing to worry about if it's small and not between the placenta and uterus (which is where mine was/is). I'm getting one more u/s to confirm that it's gone/shrunk and then I'm forgetting about it. I don't have any more spotting, so from my vantage point, that's a good indicator that things are quiet.

I'm sorry that you have one too but thank you for the info! I hope yours disappears! How far along are you?

Wow so many of us with SCH! We should start a SCH support thread in the main pregnancy forum!
