If you use a wipes warmer...

What is the deal with the "pillow" in the bottom? I picked one up recently that is for cloth wipes. It has been stored away waiting for me to set up my diapering area. I got my changing table on craigslist yesterday (yay!) and I'm setting it up. I opened it up to set the thing up and discovered this pillow thing at the bottom. It says you have to replace it every 3 months. WTH? For real? I'm thinking of taking it back and finding a pump thermos like I've seen other mamas here mention.

What is the pillow thing all about and do you really have to replace it? Or is that just another money making scheme from the manufacturer?

I have one too, haven't used it yet. The woman at the CD shop in my town said that even though she knows that most moms into CDing don't like antibacterial things...That she would highly recommend that I use the pillow. It basically stops bacteria and mold from growing in your wipes. The warmer can work without it just fine, but (she says) your wipes can get moldy or start smelling badly. Is yours the Prince Lionheart one? That's what mine is. It doesn't say it is specifically for cloth wipes on the box, but that is the one that she recommended and that I have seen for sale on online CD sites.

Anyway, you can try it without the pillow and see how it goes, if the wipes get gross and you are OK with antibacterial things, put the pillow in!

I have been using the pillow thing....and what's weird is I notice that thing smelling weird. I've replaced it way sooner than needed because of it.
I would also like to know if anyone has used it without the pillow thing.

The one thing I would like to suggest is that once you start using it, and AFTER you take a wipe out...FLIP the stack, so that one wipe doesn't always sit at the bottom...It can start making it smell like it's burnt!

Someone just gave me a wipes warmer. Its the Especially for baby brand from BRU. I was pleased to see that it does not have that little pillow that has to be replaced all the time for $4 each.
I don't even know if I will like using it, but I wanted to give it a try.

I believe the pillow is there to prevent fires. You are supposed to keep it clean and wet, and I think that is because there were wipe warmers 4 or 5 years ago that didn't have the pillows and they were starting wipes on fire.
