Black bookcase in this living room? Also, paint ideas? - Page 2

thixie - I'm glad you're loving your paneling! I think I will really like mine once we get everything set up.

I would be a little careful with the sage as it may get to be too much with the couch being sage. It will have to be the perfect shade so it doesn't end up clashing with the couch. I wouldn't tend to paint the whole room sage, but an accent wall would be fine.

i second the sage couch and wall being to matchy . though tan or another warm color would look very lovely with your couch. i wish we could paint here.

The people who are worried the sage will be too matchy are winning me over... Now I'm thinking about the golden tan kind of color I started at. I would have to win my DH over on it though. I would have to find one that compliments the wood.

If I did the living room in a tan or a golden tan, do you think I could do the dining room (that comes off of the living room) in sage? I am a big fan of sage...

I am seeing tans, browns, orange/reddish colors and shades of greens in this home. Definitely, think about getting a black round table for the dining room.

The bookcase will be fine there; there is nothing wrong with mixing woodgrains/colors together. The darker brown bookcase can be the accent.

Love Ikea, well going to the store; haven't yet purchased anything from them. Would have to drive almost 3 hours away and bring the stuff back; because, I wanted a 90.00 bed and it would cost 237.00 to ship that hehe so not worth it..so i'm gonna make it myself!

1- I love your new home. It is fabulous!
2- Your bookshelves will look lovely. Wood+black+other colors in house is a classy combo
3-I like the idea of a warmer golden tan, that isn't too close in saturation to the wood, with a terracotta as an accent wall
4-I would NOT do sage on the walls unless you plan on replacing or covering your couch. An alternative would be to use sage as the accent wall, but only if you actually MATCH the couch and the couch is not against that wall (then it would work to tie different areas of the room together.) But this isn't my favorite idea.,
5- Get thee a couple other black pieces. I would do a cluster of striking black framed photography on one of the tan walls, a group of wrought iron candlesticks on a side table, and maybe pillows with some colors and black and tan or just black and tan for the couch.

We unfortunately don't have one near by. I think it's about a 3 hour drive. If we find a few things we like, it might be worth the drive though. We lived very near one before we moved, and it was a fun place to go and walk around.

Thanks! Terracotta, is an awesome color! We have something like that in our livingroom. Something called Apple Spice got it from menards!
