Didymos - worth it?

They seem beautiful but expen$$$ive.

Any thoughts on whether they are worth it? I currently have an Ergo which DD is still too little for. At 3 months she's around 11 lbs. She does really love being carried snugly belly-to-belly in arms, and I'd love a carrier that could mimic this position and be comfortable for both of us. The Didymos certainly looks like it's exactly what I want, but that is one hefty price tag.

Um...yes.

I have a Sequoia Waves that i bought used for around $100. It is one oif the few expensive indulgences i have and i so don't regret buying it. I would have loved to have had it when ds was three months old, but i was still "making do" with pouch slings back then and thought i would love my ergo because everybody else in my town seemed to.

I'd sell the ergo to get the didy if you need to. You won't regret it.

Crap, I'd probably sell my car, my guitar,my camera, and my computer if that's what i had to do. It's your baby and your body and a good, comfortable, supportive carrier that makes babywearing a joy really is that important.

Storch and Girasol are also nice, although Girasol isn't as supportive for bigger babies and Storch feels more "mass produced" to me than Didy and isn't as pretty.

Yes, a woven wrap is definitely worth it! It doesn't have to be a didy though, there are lots of other woven wraps that come in beautiful colors/patterns and are also very supportive.

I'd recommend hoppediz, storchwienge, neobulle (I just got one of this from Slings I Love) as well, and they all tend to be cheaper than didymos. Like the pp said, Girasols are also nice but not quite as supportive as the other brands. Ellaroos are a lot cheaper, but again not as supportive but great for a younger baby. But brands like didy, hopp, storch, and neobulle will last well into the toddler years. I had my 40lb 3 year old in the neobulle the other day and it was very comfortable!

get one on fsot on thebabywearer.com. if you're a little flexible on pattern / color, you could get one much cheaper. http://www.thebabywearer.com/forum/f...splay.php?f=63

:

plus they are already nicely broken in when you buy gently used!

woven wraps are one of the items that its almost better used - because its already broken in, soft, and cuddly!

i have a storch (inka) - as my legacy wrap for dd, and a girasol (earthy jungle) = as my legacy wrap for baby#2..I love them both. I have tried most of the well known woven wraps, and honestly havent felt a difference in supportiveness (then again my dd is tiny, at 18months she is 18lbs - so maybe Im just not there yet to feel a difference)

I love my didy & imo it is well worth the $

Yes, yes yes! I got a didy Jim for Xmas and right away it was far better than any other wrap I've tried before. Didys are awesome and well worth the money you pay for them.

I have one of each type of carrier ( but not a million mei tais or a million didys like I've seen people have on the babywearer
but if I had to go to a deserted island and could bring only one carrier...it would be didy for sure!

Didy is very worth it. They are expensive though. I suggest going on the baby wearer forums and buying one used - slightly cheaper then!

I absolutely adored my didy, but my sister got a (MUCH cheaper) Moby wrap and honestly, it seems to work just as well.. and they're cute, too... I would not buy a new one again. I would get one used, though, if it was a good deal...

Yes, they are worth it, if you get one used and already broken in (since breaking in SUCKS!)

As an alternative you could look for a Girasol. They run a bit cheaper and I love them just as much

Moby has always been too stretchy and unsupportive for us.
