I am way confused now.

I don't get it, is this forum about surgery on PENISES which are sexual organs no longer aloud to talk about the sexual impact that circumcision has on said SEXUAL organs? I don't see how this forum could exist otherwise, maybe i've misunderstood.

These are the official guidelines:

"Circumcision does have a sexual impact. Any discussion of a sexual nature needs to remain clinical in nature. Please avoid slang terms for anatomy and avoid speaking of sexual matters in an offensive or gratuitous nature. Posts containing graphic sexual language may receive editing requests or be removed by the moderators."

What has happened that has caused you to believe the forum has deviated from that?

#1 taking out the link and full thread discussing a certain website with photos and a very clinical approach to showing the "gliding mechanism" of the foreskin.
#2 locking a thread that was an honest question about how the penis produces lubrication (IMO many people circ bc penis "secretions" are "dirty" and if they knew that smegma and the natural moist enviornment is not "dirty," they wouldn't circ.)
#3 the revamp of the stickies and the way one post was worded makes me think the Restoration discussions are going away ETA- nope, it's already gone

That's the top 3 for me right now and why I've been avoiding posting. I know I will say something "wrong" and get flagged or alerted or whatever. 'S ok, I'll take this one

You know what? I'm very angry right now. Where exactly are parents supposed to find relevant information about the harms of circ? Without googling and pulling up a bunch of porn?

Where else are mothers going to find out the reason sex with their wonderful DH is painful because of circ? Where will they find honest, dare I say wholesome, information about restoration?

Where are parents supposed to turn for accurate information? Circ list? circinfo.com?

Seriously, where?

just sad ...

Wow. I don't post in this section regularly but I lurk all the time and have found most of my info here and have been able to back up my decision not to circ ds because of this forum. There is no other site that I am aware of that allows discussions about normal penises without fear of being ridiculed or without pop-ups of an offensive nature. (not to mention I had no idea about restoration or what that even was until this forum ).
Mothering was a great place and I am happy I found it when I did. If I had just stumbled upon it now I would have missed out on a lot of great discussions. I am sad about all the changes and heavy handedness that has been going on lately. Oh well, maybe this too shall pass I'm remaining hopeful.

Knowledge is power. Which is why this hurts so much.

Because this isn't a decision like choosing betwen a turkey or ham sandwhich.

This is about life.

And, a central component of mothering your child is to protect them on a primal level. Which is why this forum is so important.

Empowering mothers to have the knowledge to protect their children.

That is what this place is ALL about.

Further, the sexual impact of circ is what sets this apart from any other issue. This is not like peircing, tattoo, etc b/c it permanently alters the function of a sex organ. Parents need to understand this.

I hope you all are emailing your concerns to the mods, peggy, whoever you want to at Mothering, you might get some answers.
I was aware the forum was going to be reformatted and I thought that post also stated that the issue would be ongoing-- so hopefully some of the sticky's will come back or the post starters can draft a new version that fits better with the forum guidelines.

I am very mad and sad about this as well. I can't comprehend what the harm was or why anyone thought it needed to be changed?!?!?! I never saw anything inappropriate. Ugggh.

As was stated previously, we are revisiting the purpose and mission of TCAC and attempting to get back to basics. No one is denying there is a sexual impact, but we are revising the forum guidelines to better explain what we do and don't wish to host. I ask for your patience during the forum revision and very much appreciate the private feedback.
