Hi ladies,
I have an idea brewing in my head, but because I am not a really experienced sewer, I have no idea if it will work or not. Please give me your opinion.
I want a complete crib bedding ensemble (sheet, bumper, dust ruffle) that is 100% natural/organic. Everything I have come across is organic--except for the polyester batting inside the the crib bumper. Thankfully, the sets I am considering have an organic cotton bumper slip-cover case, and a long polyester insert that goes inside of it--sort of like a pillow inside a pillow case.
So, I'm thinking, maybe I could keep the slip cover/casing that has the print and all the ties already on it, and stuff it with wool batting, bamboo filler (Jo-Ann's) or organic cotton stuffing. Then sew the end shut, and sew a vertical seam every 10" or so to keep the filling from shifting all around.
Would this work? Because it sure beats the $100+ organic bumper options out there!
