Can't use regular cloths over wool covers?

I was reading somewhere and it was saying that wearing cloths like cotton when having a wool cover on can absorb the mositure out of the wool cover? I want to use wool covers (and already bought the wool sweaters to make some) but I thought I could still use regular cloths over it(like the tons of unisex sleepers and pants I have from DS birth). Am I going to have to use wool bottoms when using wool covers, it is just seeming like a lot to deal with now.

Not at all. DS wears regular clothes. We very rarely have a wicking problem and when we do it is due to the oversaturation of his diaper which would happen with almost every type of cover.

I use regular clothes over wool soakers without a problem all the time.

The problem that sometimes gets brought up w/ cotton over wool is about wicking. It happens most often when the outter layer gets compressed...it basically squeezes the pee out of the wool and into the cotton.

Also, the joy of shorties and longies is that they act as both pants and cover, in one...no pants required!:

I use wool covers under regular clothes.

Yup - we use regular clothes, too. JUst watch out for times like long car rides where baby is sitting on the dipe for a long time. As long as you change at fairly regular intervals, you should be fine!

Ok thanks. I am thinking of using wool mostly at home for now anyways and other waterproof covers for going out, until I get the hang of it. I don't do much going out in the first couple months w/ a newborn anyways.

Sure you can. Really it is the diaper underneath that should hold in wetness the wool only blocks it. But you will notice soe dampness from time to time. My Dh and I had a saying "dry on the inside wet on the outside" but this is just a part of diapering in general. You will find also that clothes need to be stretchy or sized up because of the cloth bulk.

in our case, there was not any leaking, unless, I was wearing my baby with wool cover....Then it seep through, because of compression.
