15 Minute Sessions of Cleaning. Anyone else need to be held accountable? - Page 2

Okay, Saturday is usually the cleaning day around the house. (Inlaws house...it works for me that we do a lot of cleaning one day a week and light cleaning the rest of the week)

So, my To-Do list is as follows:
  • CLR the showerhead
  • Pick up ALL trash from room (It tends to accumulate in small amounts...a piece here a piece there kind of thing)
  • Consolidate all dirty laundry (to do later...someone is always doing laundry here)
  • Put away all clean laundry

That's what I have so far to do today. I figure if I spend 15mins on each thing with 15min breaks I won't get overwhelmed. (Being 8 months pregnant and needing to clean sucks. I get tired very quickly)

I will!

I need to wash bedding today, drop off the recycling, and clean the floors.

We're going to do a family cleaning session today. Since we'll be spring cleaning, we'll set the timer for an hour. Then we'll plan a fun evening together--probably a dollar movie!

I did well, I've got my 2nd load drying, and towels in the wash. I put away everything, unpacked 2 boxes, and even started organizing my sewing things and did lots of misc. picking up and cleaning.

I'm taking a well earned break, and after that I have more laundry to put away, 2 more boxes to unpack, and I need to sweep/ move things to the center of our bedroom, so DH can paint it. that's probably about 45 minutes of stuff.

Poetry- good for you! I hope one of those places hires you. Do you have any good feelings about the places you applied at?

So far I have:

CLR'd the showerhead (and discovered it sprays crappy because of water pressure. Oh well, at least it's clean now)

Scrubbed the toilet (I poured the CLR in there and scrubbed...we have well water so it gets gross no matter what)

Got all of the trash out of my room

Cleaned the dresser (clutter city before)

Put on a load of laundry (sheets and comforter go next)

Organized my box of vitamin bottles (sometimes I do little things when I clean)

And that's it. I overdid it a little bit so it's break-time now.

I try not to get my hopes up regarding jobs that I would especially like to have. Kind of like hope for the best but expect the worst. Earlier this week I applied for a job as a Medicaid Benefits Specialist, which means I would be able to use my Human Services degree. Today the highlight of the 3 jobs I applied for is a position as either a toddler or preschool teacher, a field I enjoyed a few years back. The pay would likely be low, but there would be benefits. In this economy, benefits are like gold.

It's funny, I moved 6 months ago and I still have boxes to unpack! I think it's bacause I know it's not stuff I need, which means I should unpack them to clear up space (much of my laundry room and a couple closets) and donate them. I'll make this part of Monday's sessions for sure.

Involving the family in cleaning is a great way to clean. Everyone benefits. It's done sooner and then everyone has fun!

Congrats on all you've accomplished AFWife. Enjoy your much earned break.

Now my evening plans are to cook supper with my husband, do the after supper cleanup, toss a load of laundry in the wash, litter box care and then relax and enjoy our Bible Study and possibly a movie.

Good luck to everyone! Accountability really works for me and I tend to get so much done. Thanks for participating in this thread!

Okay, in my last 15min session I got all of the clean laundry put away... including the stuff that "somehow" ended up sitting in the closet for lord knows how long

I'm on my 15min break right now trying to think what I should tackle next.

LOVING THIS THREAD! I needed some accountability! Good job everyone! Keep up the good work! (and send some of those vibes to my BILs!!!)

ETA: I'm spent for the day. I still have laundry on but I'm done.

AFWife- Great Job! You did tons, and you earner your rest for sure!!!!

Poetry- Benefits are definatly gold. I am so greatful for ours, they've been such a blessing. I was a infant teacher and a todler teacher in a daycare previously, and I adored it. It wasn't great paying either, but it was fun. Certainly a lot of work though!!!! I'm rooting for you.

We only moved 5 weeks ago, and the home we bought is a fixer-upper, so it'll be a while yet before we have everything unpacked. We don't even have a stove yet, all I've got is a hot plate for now. But it will arrive on the 24th, thankfully.

I've actually been good about getting rid of things before we moved here- the first house we wanted was much smaller, so we downsized a lot, and now we realize we got rid of things we now need to replace! But I have a lot more stuff to donate/give away. What has helped me is to keep a donation box near the closet and in the kitchen, of things we don't use or need. THey're both full, but I keep forgetting to put them in my car.

I unpacked those boxes, and one more- in my office, and I put away clean laundry from days ago. My DH moved the dryer (he is hanging drywall in my laundry room, finally!) so I can't get to the clean things in there, but at least they're things that won't wrinkle much. I still have work to do in the bedroom, but I'm exhausted!

Welcome mrs*kewpie*pie!

Well, I didn't get to the Bible Study and movie, but all the chores were done--and my husband and I made a delicious carrot cake Quaker Meeting tomorrow.

Wishing productivity to all...

Did a 15 minute clean up in the bathroom. It's like, why don't i do this every day. I know everyone has their lazy days. I had 7 minutes to spare so I even put away a load of laundry!

All I know we bought this house in late Aug. And this year, spring cleaning I'm getting rid of a lot of sh** lmao!

I want the decluttered home! Where you're able to breathe! hehe I even have 2 children! Really we have too many clothes well the 2 kids and fiance; I just have my bare min.

But that is my resolution to clean house and keep it clean! Get rid of past clothes, toys, etc..etc...

hehe thanks for letting me vent!:

Welcome! ... Yeah, it's amazing what you can get done in fifteen minutes of focused effort.

I've the same decluttering goals as you. I'll be back to post my goals tomorrow. Daylight savings always does me in; I got nothing done today (around the home, that is). But tomorrow is a new day~~~

My goals for tomorrow:

Pack DH a bag of civilian clothes (means going through all of his old stuff that WAS too small but probably fits now)

Make my list of things to take to graduation
post #33 of 160
I won't be able to do all of this untill tonight, but I need to do the dishes and fold the dry towels (15 minutes), unpack 1 box in my office (15 minutes) organize in my office (15 minutes) and write up a few emails (15 minutes)

plus- if there is time I want to work on some new handouts I'm making, and I intend to make it a priority to think positive about getting pregnant.

Woo-hoo, everyone!!!!!:

I need to make my bed and scoop litter box in my first session. I'm amazingly low energy today; so I'm just giving myself "small" lists. :-)

Done. I also fed the cats and swished and swiped (FlyLady jargon) the sink and toilet.

Next: start washing dishes.

My energy is low today, also.

I washed, hulled, and sliced strawberries this morning. They were a great price Saturday night (local, fresh, RIPE) and I know we will not get through all of them before they start getting icky. I kept some whole for the fridge. I ate 3 with my breakfast (they are HUGE). The sliced ones are for DD's lunches. I froze the rest.

I stripped our bed and am washing the sheets. (Did DD's bedding yesterday and folded those sheets this morning. We rotate her sheets, but I only like one set of ours. LOL) I also finally cut off a body pillow cover that clashes with our bedroom. I use it as a backrest when I read in bed and as a decorative pillow otherwise. I found two old king-size white pillow cases last month when I overhauled the new Project Room and shoved the "naked" body pillow into one at one end and the other at the other end (overlaps in the middle) for now. I am slowly working on a Turn Twenty quilt pattern (as a duvet and sham) for our bedroom. I just wanted the electric blue out of the blue-violet, brown, and white bedroom! My cousin intended it to be for our living room, which is does go well in, but we don't want a body pillow in the living room.

I have more work to do today than there are hours in the day for it. We'll see what I actually accomplish...

~ Clear off my desk

~ Go through finished family artwork and decide what can be scanned, what needs to be photographed, and what would look nice framed as is. If the sun decides to come back out, take the photographs. If not, start scanning.

~ Go through the family memorabilia. Well, start going through it. This could take a few days and will involve pulling out more stuff and making an even bigger mess before it is done. I think I have it all in two spots now, which is a big accomplishment in itself.

~ I have a pile of picture frames to weed through and match to frame-worthy photographs. I already did the "large" frames/portraits/art last year and we finally gave away all the frames we didn't find a use for in early January this year. I believe what is left is 8x10 and smaller, but it might be 5x7 and smaller. There are more of them than the last round, that much I know.

~ Go through my next big scrapbook project and prepare it for several "travel" sessions. The project is mostly together, but is too much stuff for any one session. I have weekend getaways coming up in April and July (friend owns a cabin, so we scrap for really cheap there) with a 18-hour crop in May. One friend lives a mile away and we switch off cropping at each other's houses in the spring and summer. My real challenge is finding a permanent home for this project at our house, in addition to having it be portable. It is a 3-book series and covers 13 years. We are talking about a large project. It'll require some creative thinking on my part...

~ And more, but I am out of computer time now...
