High Lipase?

I just discovered that I have high lipase after randomly smelling a bottle of thawed expressed milk and finding it soapy smelling. My husband and the director of my daughter's daycare said it smelled fine to them, but even tasting it, it tasted soapy to me.

Here is my question:
I literally JUST discovered this in the last 3 days. I have been pumping and freezing since the end of December (daughter is 4 months now). The beginning of February I went back to work and she has been taking two bottles of expressed milk at daycare (she gets nursed by me during my lunch hour). So apparently she hasn't minded the icky soapy taste. But in the last three days, she has been taking noticeably less from the bottle. Of course she also has a cold and cough, and her two bottom teeth are pretty close to breaking through, so maybe this is why?

I'm sad at the prospect of throwing out the freezer stash I have. If she'll still take it, is there any harm in giving it to her? I can start scalding all my pumped milk as of now, but what about what I have saved?

If she still takes it there is no harm in giving it to her. It will be even easier to digest as the fat is broken down already. Most babies dont like the taste of it. My DD would not take my thawed milk because of the taste. Maybe I am wrong but I dont see the harm in giving her the milk if she doesnt mind it. Maybe from now on however, try to scald the milk in a double boiler before freezing it. This deactivates the lipase.

I just pumped fresh milk and it smells and tastes fine.

I'll start scalding now, but will continue to feed her what I have as long as she doesn't seem to mind.

I had this problem too, it sucks, doesn't it! But the old milk definitely won't harm her, and if she doesn't seem as fond of it, you could always try mixing it with some new, scalded milk to even out the taste a bit.
