Rita Rump Diaper making prob, HELP!!

I made the diaper out of tshirts and it looks horrible. The elastic came out looking really funny. Anyone have an alternative site that has pics step by step? I am a very visual person.

Well, I don't do the elastic the way the pattern calls for, I make a "casing" and put the elastic in that way. I think I figured out 6 inches for the leg elastic for length?

Thanks I actually had someone PM me a video on how to do it and boy now it all makes sense. I can't wait to make some more. Now do you think flannel or more tshirt material?

I used flannel myself, I hate sewing with stretchy fabric like t-shirts. I first used some old flannel items I had around the house, then have gone from there.

I was going to say it may just be because it's stretchy fabric. Try using 4 layers of t-shirt instead of 2.

I've sewn with both flannel and t-shirt material. Flannel is by far easier. But t-shirts are economical (if they can't be worn otherwise!). You just have to use more layers.

That does make sense!! I guess I will make some more with the old tshirts to get the hang of it before spending $$ on flannel. Thanks for your help!!

When I use t-shirt for one of the layers on an RRP style diaper I stabilize it with nonstretchy cotton so I end up with three layers instead of just two.

Check garage sales for flannel sheets. I recently got a dozen diapers(and soakers for more than half of those diapers) from a single king size flat sheet, that I purchased for 99cents. Church garage sales are the best to try for cheap prices. that way, you aren't purchasing new flannel quite yet.
