Looking to rent a camp on a lake this summer....

So that family vacation this year is going to be a fairly local one. We just moved to Dover, NH, and would love to rent a camp somewhere for a week this summer. New Hampshire, Maine, maybe even Vermont.

Basically, our ideal would be to have a place where we can do some hikes (with a 3 year old), maybe canoe or go swimming, ride bikes, and basically just have a low-key week without responsibilities.

Do any of you know of a place you've been to? Have one in your family?

Hello Mary! I was searching the forum for the recommendation of the place you described and only found your post. So, how did it go? Did you find the place you liked? We are in the same situation this season, cannot afford to go some place far from home and, honestly, just want to enjoy beautiful Indian summer of Northeast. Let me know, please, where did you end up going.
