DS had a very bad tongue tie that was clipped at 2 weeks old. Before that, we fed him with a syringe and my finger, but he still managed to get nipple confusion. I transitioned him to a nipple shield on my finger, then the shield on my breast. He's almost 3 months now, which is when I was planning to try to drop the shield.
Now DH got fired, and we're in an area where 2,000 just got fired this week, it's doubtful he'll get a job. My job is waiting for me whenever I want to come back, which may well have to be now if DH can't get one. I would only be working 4 hour stretches, so DS may or may not get hungry during that time depending on his sleep schedule. Obviously for me to go back to work, we'd need to introduce a bottle. I'm terrified of nipple confusion again though, since he already had it once.
Are my odds better or worse for having beaten it once? Is he old enough that it won't likely happen, even though he was a month old when he finally got on the breast? What bottle is the best, and are there any techniques to try when feeding to minimize the chance?
